*Vaishnavi's POV*

Everything turned black after that tap on my shoulder. I felt lightheaded, and a faint chuckle rang in my ears before I completely lost consciousness. I found it hard to keep my eyes open. It felt as if someone had drugged me with sleeping gas.

When I regained consciousness, it was so cold. I moved my hands to find the blanket, but some metallic sound came. I opened my eyes, and the surroundings became blurry and dancing in front of my eyes. I again tried to lift my hands, but they were heavy, and again a metallic sound came.

I again tried to open my eyes, and it was all dim. Dim light was shining in the room or whatever the place it was. I felt instant dread creeping into me as I looked around at the unfamiliar site. I tried moving my limps. I saw a shining silver-coated metal wrapped around both my wrists and ankles.

I brought my hands closer while dragging with great difficulty, and just when I was about to lift it, a sharp pain rose in my joint.

A  doorknob clicking sound came. I saw some figures entering the room, and the light went brighter than before. I felt my eyes watering. I didn't want to be in this place.

I closed my eyes from the sudden light, and the tears escaped, making their way down my cheeks. I felt them trail down my neck and then felt them nowhere.

"Oh, sweetheart. You are awake." A manly voice was there, and then some murmuring. I slowly opened my eyes to see the person who kidnapped me. A man wearing a red formal stood in front of me. His hair was dyed in the colour of bleach. He was looking like some slightly roasted omelette over some red surface. Ew! This was my only reaction.

"Fascinated by my looks? Well, of course. I am handsome, I know." The man kept on praising himself. Pathetic!

"Speak something." He said in a sweet voice, which was nowhere near the word itself.

"You are..." I paused intentionally. The rule one to make someone desperate was to leave them on the cliffhanger. I gulped the little saliva in my mouth before continuing, "You are looking like a bitch!" Even though we siblings are not supposed to curse, we know almost all the vocabulary words to spit on someone's face.

"You bitch!" He yelled while striding towards me, and a slap landed on my face, but who care?

"How am I a bitch? When you're the one who is looking like one," I smirked at his astonished face. No matter how much fear was within me, I wouldn't show it till it was unbearable.

"You surely got a big mouth, don't you? I can teach you a lesson, but let's be lenient. Be respectful and fearful while I am being nice or otherwise," He stopped mid-sentence, clapping his hands twice as the door opened again.

A boy was there. I saw his side face, but he was hidden behind this ugly man. I again looked into his eyes. He smirked and stepped aside.

My eyes widened when I saw the boy, Naitik. He stood there in a black tee and pants. He was sweating, and his clothes were on his body like a second skin.

"Son, nice choice. She is a fierce one. Be careful not to get burned by her fire." The same man said. My mind clouded as he called Naitik his son.

"Dad, I know. My choice is perfect, as always." Naitik said as he also stood in front of me. I looked at him, perplexed.

The next moment, he crouched on his knees and held my chin. I moved my head to get his hands off me, but he tightened his grip.

"Look at me, darling." Naitik's words hit my ears, and a wave of disgust covered my heart.

"I am not your darling! Get your hands off me." I said with the same authority his father threatened me.

"Okay. As you wish." He left my chin and stood up. He looked at his father, and he nodded while walking away. Soon, all the other men left the room, leaving me alone with him. Bastard!

"All I wanted was a princess. But who would have guessed I would get one for real, and her status is also princess. My princess." He said while looking at me.

"I am not your princess. I am anyone's but yours." I spat those words on his face. Something changed in his orbs, not emotion, but more like hue. I frowned.

He closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths. Opening his eyes again, he looked at me. Inching his face closer, a short growl left his throat. There was anger in his eyes. He fisted on the chains, which hampered my movements to control his anger. His knuckles turned white, and I returned my gaze to his eyes.

He inched his face closer, and I backed mine. He was not the person I knew. "Naitik." I breathed as his face was only a few centimetres apart. I dug my head more into the wall if that was possible to do so.

"Repeat my name." His breath fanned over my nose. I took a shaky breath, afraid after seeing the proximity and his eyes.

"Naitik." I obeyed, remembering the punishment Dadi-sa would give us when we disobeyed her - in the absence of Daddy and Ma.

"Fuck! You don't deserve to be here." I blinked, not getting anything he spoke.

He turned his face away, and I released the breath, which I unknowingly stopped. "Show me your hand." He ordered.

"I can't." I mustered some courage to speak those words. He glared at me, and I lowered my gaze to my hands.

"Oh. Sorry." He took my right hand in his, and I hissed as the pain returned. "Must be hurting, right?" He took out a key and unlocked the chain from my hand.

Just as I assumed, it was just some gag they were doing on me. He pressed the rashed area of my hand, which was already hurting due to the heaviness of the chains. I screamed, shutting my eyes tightly, and tears started drowning my eyes.

"Answer me." He whispered calmly, totally in disparity with what his hand was doing to mine. "Ah- Yes." I whimpered as the force was too much for me to handle.

"Seeing this mark on your right. LOOK AT ME WHEN I AM TALKING!" Hearing his yelling, I shot open my eyes.

"See this mark on your right hand. I got one similar. You know what that means?" He again changed his composure.

I shook my head, not knowing what he meant. All the talks were going above my head. All my focus was on the slight pain I was feeling.

"It says we are destined mates." He said, and I wanted to laugh. How is that even possible? We are humans. We don't have any rubbish like mates or something.

"You read too many werewolf novels. There is no such thing. It's just all fantasy." I tried to argue, but he took my face between his palms and made me look into his eyes.

"There is. And if you want proof." He showed me an old-looking book titled Bonds of the Fate - The Mate Mark. I started at the cover and then looked at him.

"Tell me truthfully. You feel butterflies when I am around you?" He asked, still keeping my face between his hands. I slowly shook my head, and disappointment was visible on his face.

He left my face and stood up. He grabbed the wooden chair nearby and smashed it by harshly throwing it on the cemented floor.

I recoiled, seeing him shout afterwards. "It's all because of the person who was chosen as first for you." He started punching the wall.

"You how desperate I was to tell you this. If I had left you to find it on your eighteenth birthday, you would have gotten his mark sensation first." He spoke in a low tone, and I didn't understand who he was talking about. Who is the other person he is talking about? I thought.

"You-" I opened and closed my mouth to say something, but nothing came out.

"You know, I kidnapped you just to tell you this. But you have a huge impact on my emotions now. You can't go until your family comes to rescue you." He informed me, and I was on the verge of passing out again. Why? I didn't know.

"This is wrong." The words nearly left my mouth when everything became black again.
