Welcome to my Open Novella Contest entry! Last year, I entered for the first time with my queer Regency romance, The Prodigal Son, but unfortunately didn't have time to finish. This year, I hope to!
Before historical fiction (my main genre, and the genre I publish under – cheeky shoutout to my queer Age of Sail trilogy, out from Canelo haha), I wrote sci fi! That might seem like a big difference but my preferred sci fi is about mysterious ships and the vastness of space, similar to what I write about in historical fiction (ships and the vastness of the sea!).
This is a sci fi thriller, with notes of Event Horizon, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Alien. The prompts I'm using are:
