He answered on the first ring. "Hello?"
"Hi." I said, feeling my face flush three shades of red.
"Hey," he said, sounding surprised to hear from me. "Everything okay?"
"Yeah," I said. "It's just, um, well. I ran out of gas."
"Hold on," he said, shuffling the receiver. "You what?"
"I ran out of gas. On the side of the road. My parents are out of town and Luke wouldn't pick up—I didn't know who else to call."
"Where are you?" He asked.
"I'm not sure exactly," I admitted. "I think I'm like five miles out of town."
"Okay," he said. "Send me your location. Just sit tight. I'll be there shortly."
Relief. "Okay. And Ty?"
"Yeah?"
"Thanks, you know, for answering." Thanks for answering?
"I'll see you soon." And then he hung up, leaving me in the silence.
