Governor Bartholomew Bennett and his three daughters have recently moved to Barbados by orders of the King of England. Lucy, the youngest of Bartholomew's daughters, is quite different from her two older sisters Beatrice and Bella. She is mostly confined to her house and is unable to marry or have children even though every man across Europe would give anything to even hold her hand. Instead of dreaming about her prince charming, she frequently thinks of all the places in the world she wants to visit as she is desperate to gain freedom away from her family. One morning, after she sneaks away, Lucy meets Oliver Augusta, a former nobleman turned pirate who kidnaps her and takes her on the journey of a lifetime.
