Tale of the Stage

Harken those from both far and near,

And ask them kindly to journey here.

For on this stage our tale shall unfold,

A gift to all both young and old,

With the creaking rafters to replace the sky,

Blocking the gaze of the moonlit eyes.

How lucky you are to witness the show,

And have knowledge of the things others

Don't know.

Our tale is one of grief and rage,

Of a lovers heart kept locked in a cage,

With his lover dead and a key that is lost,

Freedom shall come at the greatest of costs.

The loss of a family that differs in blood,

And a life of hard labour in the heat and the mud.

An empire must be conquered if our hero is

To live,

But first there is an offering that our hero must give.

The sacrifice of the soul, giving up on joy,

Love is but the play thing of every boy.

All of the players shall one day be hurt,

When they too must bury their love in the dirt.

So see now the performance and lend me

Your ears,

And I hope by the end you shall give me

Your cheers.
