Lady Venus mine, what would you
Have me say?
The sweet poetic whisper, that turns
The night to day,
With a voice to change the winds, and
Steady out the tides,
I bless your graceful ears, with the love
I feel inside.
Whichever road you choose, I follow
As if blind,
But I cannot ignore the thought of
You, forever in my mind.
O lady Venus fair, what heaven
Could compete,
To see your body adorn my sky,
All other beauty would retreat.
Are these words enough, to turn
About the earth?
To cleanse it of the wintry thaw,
And bring on springs new birth.
I am but a poet, with the pen as
My mighty sword,
Lady Venus fair, t'was only you
That I adored.
