-Diana's POV-

"Checkmate." Natalie switches my king for her bishop. I gasp, slapping the desk before I sit back with a groan. I don't like chess—no, I don't like chess with my mean girlfriend.

"You're obviously cheating!" My arms cross as I sit back in the armchair. I dragged this chair over to the front of Natalie's desk so she could teach me how to play. She has just been cheating, I don't know how she's cheating yet, but she is and I'll figure out how.

"No, I'm not. Come on, again." She begins to set the pieces up and I shake my head, refusing to play again. I'm not going to win. She refuses to go easy on me because she's Natalie, why would Natalie ever go easy on me? She doesn't go easy on anyone.

Although, I should be the exception because she's madly in love with me. But you would never guess with the way she treats me during board games, she gets way too competitive. Seriously, the soft spot she has for me? It doesn't exist when we play a board games, she becomes my worst enemy. If I was to win, she would probably kill me.

"We've been playing for over an hour and I haven't won once!" I push the pieces over with my foot and Natalie grips my ankle, pushing my foot away. I'm also hungover, so this isn't fair at all. I can barely remember yesterday, I just remember me and Charlie speaking for hours. I can't even remember what we were talking about, I doubt he remembers either.

"You won't win with that attitude." Natalie smiles and I stay sitting back, watching her set up the pieces again. She's so proud of herself for this, winning against me. Newsflash, Natalie, it's not very difficult to beat someone who barely knows how to play!

She was nice to me for the first twenty minutes, calling me a good girl and praising me when I remembered how each piece moved. Since then, she has slowly become a new woman, a mean woman who would probably steal a book from someone. Oh wait—she did that—and I'm getting so mad right now that I'm angry about everything, even the thing that lead to us meeting. She has called me stupid in three different ways so far. This woman is toxic, I should leave her because of this.

"Oh, shut up. You're so full of yourself and you're rubbing your wins in my face, that should have made me win by now." I respond, nudging the board with my foot again. Natalie's eyes go to me, giving me a warning look which makes me pull my foot away.

Huffing, I look to the window, watching the rain fall outside. Her eyes are still on me, they're practically burning my skin, but I ignore her gaze. Natalie and her stupidly intimidating looks. She's not even that scary, I just don't want to kill her confidence—you know, since I'm not mean and degrading? I don't call people stupid over a board game.

"Come on, make your move." Natalie nods and I shake my head, keeping my eyes on the window. This is stupid, I'll ask Josephine to teach me how to play when I get back to college. She won't call me stupid, I might actually learn a thing or two.

"No, I don't want to play anymore." I mumble.

"Don't be a sore loser, Diana."

"I'm not a sore loser, you're just a cheater." I shrug, smiling a little as my eyes go back to her. She sits back in her chair, watching me for a moment before her eyes go to the board. My gaze falls to her robe before she adjusts it, humming.

"I'm not a cheater. Move a piece."

"Or what?" I ask. Natalie rests her chin against her knuckles, an unreadable expression on her face as she waits. Or she'll probably bend me over and spank me. Over a board game.
She would do it, she really would.
