I was outside with my family today in the hot burning sun. We were grilling out today, my mother was taking control of the food. She made hot dogs, burgers and grilled chicken and kebab's.
"Rhea can you go fill the cooler with some more ice?"
"Yeah sure."
I went inside seeing Mak carrying a bag of ice. I rolled my eyes and chuckled "thanks."
as I tried to grab it he didn't let me take it. "Mak? thank you." I said, trying to pull it out his hands again.
"I just wanted to say one thing to you."
"Okay but hurry." I said looking around my surroundings, hoping no one is watching us.
"Please behave." He eyed me
"What do you mean?" I tried taking the ice again
"Look at me when I'm talking to you." He said harshly
I turned to look at him, leaving the ice alone. "Stay away from that door and anyone that doesn't seem normal, me and my brothers can't help you— something came up." He said before flashing away
"Wait!?!" I yelled but he zoomed too fast.
I took the ice and went outside, Dean was staring in my direction with some black shades on, I look behind me to see if he was looking at something else but I guess he wasn't. "Uh, I got the ice." I said pouring it into the cooler
"You rock." Mom chuckled
I turned to Rafe who was sitting on a chair playing on his Nintendo switch. "Do you ever stop staring at a screen?" I asked him
"Do you ever stop antagonizing me? No."
"Mom, Rafe is being a Dick again." I backed away
"You need a real job." Rafe said
My mouth dropped from his comment. "Just being realistic sister." He grins
"Dean could you flip the hot dogs."
Dean moved towards the grill to flip the hot dogs. "Is it just me or is he's being weird?" I questioned mom who was bathing in the sun
"What are you talking about?" She sat up in her chair
"He seems off."
"He have been working, probably tired, nothing to be worried about." She shrugs her shoulders
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow across the backyard, Rhea's mind was filled with a whirlwind of thoughts. She couldn't help but ponder over what Mak had said earlier.
The way he mentioned that he and his brothers had to leave because "something came up" left her with a lingering sense of unease. What could possibly be so urgent that they had to abruptly depart, without any further explanation?
