Smoke had begun bellowing into the corridor from some other part of the ship, just what we needed to top off our situation, a fire. The smoke was becoming thicker by the second and I pulled the collar of my shirt up over the lower half of my face in a lame attempt to keep myself from inhaling it. Clara had started coughing, I couldn't tell her to do what I had done because the small uniform didn't have a collar for her to use as a mask. Without saying a word I grabbed her arm and placed the crook of her elbow over her mouth hoping it would help her to some degree.

I needed to get us out of here, and fast. I closed my eyes and tried to think of what the Doctor would do in a situation like this, I didn't have a sonic screwdriver so in a way that complicated the situation. My eyes flew open as a thought sprang into my head.

"Come on, I know of safe place we can go!" I said putting my hand on Claras back and pushing her away from the door that separated us from the horrific scene outside.

"I thought I told you not to touch me!" she screamed back at me.

"Do you want to choke to death in smoke?!"

"Well...no..."

"Then we need to get to the cargo hold or bay or whatever you call it!" I pushed Clara forward again forcing her to scuttle forward and weave her way through the thickening smoke. I kept my hand on her shoulder so we didn't become separated as she led me in and out the maze of the ships half. The interior was becoming hotter by the second as the fire that was raging somewhere was probably growing bigger, sweat had begun to pour down my back and down my forehead as we made our way to the cargo bay.

"We're almost there" Clara said as we turned yet another corner. There was a loud burst of static that emitted from Clara and I stopped following her and stepped away and shuddered remembering the creepy hooded figure I had encountered a while back. Clara stopped and looked down at her waist in confusion as more static emitted from her. Clara plucked a small black box off of her belt and looked it over twisting it in different directions to get a better look.

"Thats funny, my comm is acting up..." she remarked. The static from her little box suddenly stopped and was replaced by an annoying sonic-y buzz.

"Whats that?"

"Give it to me" I said and snatched the box up from her hands as she let out a loud protest. "How does it work?" I asked looking it over myself.

"Press the button on the side and talk into it, duh." Clara said rolling her eyes up at me. The sonicing noise got louder as I pressed the button and held the comm up to my mouth.

"Doctor? Doctor, are you there?" I said and let go of the button. There wasn't any reply so I pressed the button and repeated my message.

"Adam?" Rivers voice called out from the black box.

"I told you I could get it to work!" the Doctors voice said sounding further off than Rivers had. I could hear River bark a quick shut up at the Doctor over the whine of the sonic that was still pulsing through the comm's tiny speakers.

"Uh, Clara and I are in sort of a...uh..predicament" I said trying to find the right words to sum up our situation. The smoke had started to thicken in this part of the ship and Clara grabbed my free hand and began dragging me forwards like she had been earlier before this whole mess had started.

"We know you are" River's voice said.

"You both need to find the TARDIS and stay in there, its the safest place."

"Already on it"

Clara pulled me through a large metal archway that opened up to reveal the cargo area I had arrived in earlier. The TARDIS stood in the center of the room where we had left it and I ran forwards towards it and pushed on the skinny blue door with all the strength I had. The door didn't move and I pushed again as hard as I could.
