I'm the author of THE DEAD GIRLS OF HYSTERIA HALL (coming 8/25/15); FAMOUS LAST WORDS; MARIE ANTOINETTE, SERIAL KILLER from Scholastic and the BAD GIRLS DON'T DIE series.

I love to write, even when it's hard, and sometimes even when it's really really hard. I also love to read, to eat, to sew, to watch a little TV, and to connect with my readers. I live in Los Angeles with my husband, my daughter, and dogs, Scooter and Frodo. I love it here, but I do wish we had more rainy afternoons that I could spend reading cozily on the couch. I'm a morning person. I like chocolate more than I should.

My writing style at the moment is outline-based. I love to talk about character and story structure. I usually write my first draft using my outline as a guide, and then when I revise, I change whatever I want and don't worry about the outline at all!

My vices are Diet Sunkist, snack foods with no redeeming value, and checking Twitter every 35 seconds (especially if I'm on deadline).

I have a ton of favorite books, including Pride and Prejudice, Wives and Daughters, Bel Canto, The Marbury Lens, the Harry Potter series, and the Little House series. My favorite movies are Ordinary People, The Others, Meet Me in St. Louis, The Three Amigos, and For Richer or Poorer.
