General
Wattpad is all about reading and sharing books on your mobile phone. The material on Wattpad are uploaded by community members like you. You can upload whatever you want to share - a story, an essay or a joke, and then read it on your phone or send it to your friends via SMS. If you can't find what you want, you can even request it from the Wattpad community.
It's free to use Wattpad, the service is ad-supported. To download Wattpad Reader and books to your phone, your mobile operator may charge for data usage based on the plan you have.
To get started, all you need is a compatible mobile phone and a data plan. If you can access the internet from your phone, then you're ready to go! Go to m.wattpad.com on your phone's browser to download Wattpad. It's free!
Wattpad Reader works with Java-compatible phones, including Symbian, Windows Mobile and BlackBerry devices. Check the list of
compatible phones. Your phone may work even if it is not listed here, if it does, let us know!
The easiest way to get Wattpad Reader is to go to
m.wattpad.com on your phone's web browser. You can also download the files to your PC first from
here. After you have it to your PC, then you can transfer it to your phone.
Chances are you do this if you get SMS and email on your phone. Wattpad Reader makes it easy to read on your phone. You can start and stop any time with auto bookmarking, set the scrolling to match your reading speed and adjust the text size and color to suit your phone's display. You have to try it for yourself, you'll be surprised!
Usage
To send a book from the website, click the "Send to Phone" button on the page. You can send it by SMS or email, your friend will receive a link to read the book. You can also send it from the Wattpad Reader on your phone, select the "Send by SMS" option and enter their phone number. Remember to put the complete phone number including the country code. If your friend doesn't have Wattpad yet, they will get a link to download it.
The wattcode is used to quickly access the book from your phone. Each item on Wattpad has a wattcode, enter this number into Wattpad on your phone to retrieve the book. You only need to enter it once, Wattpad will remember what you've read recently.
What you upload is up to you. Here are a few suggestions -
a short story, news article, your study notes, movie review... Or try something you want to access while you're on the go -
your shopping list, driving directions, travel guide, song lyrics... Remember, you'll be sharing it with the whole Wattpad community. Do not upload any restricted material or copyright material for which you do not hold the rights to (see the
terms of use)
Yes you can. But to read it, your phone must also support the language. For example, if you upload Chinese characters, your phone must have Chinese fonts. Otherwise the characters cannot be displayed.
For best readability:
use plain text, no HTML or special characters
don't put line breaks in long lines - use the "Remove spacing" button on the upload page to remove extra line breaks
if you use other languages or characters, remember that it will only display on phones that support those characters
The Wattpad Reader stores several pages of text at a time, so intermittent network outtage should not affect your reading. If you are often reading where there is no network connection (say on an airplane or underground), you can download the entire book to your phone. Click the "Read offline" link at the bottom of the page. The book is downloaded as a separate program.

here. After you have downloaded it to your PC, then you can transfer it to your phone using a USB cable, bluetooth or infrared.
To use Wattpad Reader on your mobile phone, you must have an internet connection set up. Your phone may not have an Internet connection set up already, but most phone manufacturers and operators can help you set it up, free of charge. To automatically setup your phone, go to your phone manufacturer's setup website:

BenQ-Siemens. If your manufacturer is not listed here, you may also visit your mobile operator's website. For BlackBerry devices, ensure your TCP settings are correct (Advanced Settings > TCP) You can also download the entire book to your phone to read offline. Choose the "Read offline" option at the bottom of the book information page for instructions.
If the softkeys are not working, you can use the */# keys instead. If the directional keys are not working, you can also use 2/4/6/8 to navigate.
On some phones, the backlight turns off automatically if no keys are pressed for a while. You can change the backlight option in "Settings" from AUTO to ON, this will keep the backlight lit on most phones. For most Motorola phones (such as the RAZR) you should keep the backlight setting in AUTO for best results. Other phones also have a backlight option in the application settings, you can use this to set the backlight.
