"Be advised on initial contact you have information Bravo."
I nodded to myself, jotting down the weather information and the contact code on my kneeboard. My headphones muffled the sounds of passengers boarding the flight.
I was so immersed in my preflight work, I didn't notice the Captain enter the cockpit.
My eyes scanned the master flight plan, double checking that all the numbers were correct. Oil, hydraulics, fuel, oxygen - everything was logged precisely down to the decimal.
"Alright, flight plan is uploaded & we should be ready for pushback in about 10 minutes," I announced, finally looking over to my left.
My eyes widened, taking in the sight before me.
He was tall with dark chestnut hair that was styled in a casual manner & a pair of sunglasses covered his eyes. His skin had a gorgeous tan that had me jealous. The white material of his uniform stretched over his broad shoulders, neatly tucking into his navy coloured trousers.
I blinked rapidly, averting my gaze as he took a seat beside me.
"Apologies for the late arrival," he began, getting himself situated.
"I'll let it slide this time," I muttered in response, fiddling with the APU switches overhead.
He didn't reply, but his lips twitched as he put on his headphones.
I stole a glance in his direction, trying to catch a glimpse of his name badge.
There was no doubt he was a Captain, the 4 stripes on his epaulettes confirmed that.
He didn't say much as he completed his checking of the instruments & systems before clearing his throat to make a PA announcement.
"Ready?"
"Hm?"
"Start Checklist?"
"Oh yes, sorry," I muttered, reaching for the laminated checklist.
"Gear pins?"
"Removed."
"Lights?"
"Check."
We went through the checklist smoothly in a nice flow & I found myself enjoying his deep, soothing voice.
"Checklist complete."
"Confirm, checklist complete," I nodded, looking up from the sheet. His grey eyes met mine, making my breath catch in my throat.
