_____
In the dimly lit alley, rain poured down in sheets, reflecting the flickering lights of the city. I watch as Adrian stands with his back against the cold brick wall, my heart racing with fear and adrenaline.
"I trusted you!" I yell, the sound of desperation in my voice cutting through the sound of the rain like a knife.
"I'm sorry, Liv," he choked out, his voice barely a whisper. "I never meant to hurt you."
But his words fall silent compared to the sound of my heart shattering.
I watch his eyes switch from fear to pain as he reaches out to me.
"Don't touch me!" I spat, voice dripping with venom. "You've already done enough."
My heart sank as I watch the last thing that matters to me slip further away with each passing moment.
Why does this always happen to me?
"I messed up, okay?" he pleaded, his voice raw with emotion. "But I'm begging you, Olivia, please don't walk away from me, from us."
I shake my head, my jaw clenching with frustration.
"I don't even know who you are anymore," I whisper, my voice barely audible over the pounding rain. "You lied to me, Hardin. You betrayed my trust."
I watch his eyes close with guilt as he struggles to find the right words to make things right.
"I was scared," he confessed, his voice trembling with vulnerability. "Scared of losing you, so I did the one thing I thought would keep you close."
I take a step back as he tries to reach for me again.
"Love shouldn't be built on lies," I tell him, the sound of my voice is cold and distant, barely recognizable to my own ears. "I deserve better than that, Hardin. We both do."
The rain continued to pour, washing away any hope of redemption as I watch him sink to his knees, consumed by guilt and regret.
