Meet Amaryllis Esmeralda Velvette.
District: 1
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Backstory:
Amaryllis Esmeralda Velvette. My name is quite a mouthful, even by District One standards, and trust me, there are some wacky names here, my name has always stood out. When I was born, my mother almost died. I was a breach baby, which means that instead of being ready to come out headfirst, I wanted to come out with my feet first. Usually in such cases, unless you live in the Capitol, either the baby or the mother dies. My mother survived.
But even after all that pain, my first name and my last name were picked by my father. 'Amaryllis Velvette'. My mother wouldn't have it. So, I took on her name too. 'Esmeralda'. The hunger games have always been important to our family. They're part of our livelihood. My mother works in the Capitol during the games, as a Hunger Games stylist. I'm partially biased, but she's the reason that every year, the District One tributes are the best dressed.
As soon as I was old enough, my parents put me in the centre. The centre is where they prepare you to go into the games and bring back the laurels for our district. Even getting selected into the centre is a great honour. I did, right when I was twelve.
Still, even with my training at the centre, I wasn't supposed to go into the games this year. My training was always for the fourth quarter quell. The 100th hunger games. Because I have always been special, I deserved to win a special hunger game. When I was 18. But if there's one thing that's more important to me than spectacle, its my pride. I'm easily angered, and usually because of my pride. So, when the forerunner for the male tributes of the 99th Hunger Games insulted in front of everybody, saying that I couldn't do it, I was eager to prove him wrong. I wanted to get picked for the 99th Hunger Games.
And I would win.Alla rättigheter förbehållna
