Avery Trevear started out as a wealthy child in the high class society of Victorian England. However, with the passing of both of his parents, Avery is left to live in the silence of his large childhood home. With the threat of madness setting in, the young boy resolves in getting out and seeing the city. On his way he witnesses the harshness of the pauper slums; the stench and immorality he had otherwise been sheltered from as well as experiencing the pain of love and lust for a woman he could never have.
