Makani was never one to be told what to do and how to do it. He was one with the waves, usually having to be scolded as a child for abandoning his chores to play on the beach. It seemed natural to him as a Hawaiian native, born on O'ahu island. To surf was his greatest passion, his single drive. It made no difference to him where he did it, yet he'd always love the pure waters of his homeland. After all, who could forget the sea who gave them their name?
