I am thrilled to have been commissioned by The Handmaid's Tale, a new Hulu Original series premiering April 26th, to write this story for Wattpad. I'm hugely looking forward to the series—though I 'm pretty sure it will be difficult to watch at times. While I don't think we'll ever reach that level of taking away women's rights, I'm seeing some very disturbing trends in the world right now...trends that could well lead us down an ominous path if we aren't careful.

You see, I grew up during the 1970s Women's Liberation Movement, and I remember all too clearly a time when my mother was expected to remain at home,and when she was given tranquilizers to combat the depression that resulted from anything that resembled ambition or a desire for more. I remember when my own career choices coming out of high school were pretty much limited to secretary, nurse, or teacher...because those were 'acceptable' careers for women. But I also remember how women have consistently found strength in numbers and in unity, a strength that I'm beginning to see again now.

We're more resilient than we think sometimes, ladies...just like the women in my story. I hope you enjoy. J
