vii - in nightmares

Start from the beginning

"i know, the thought is still just there. i'm trying to get rid of it, but it's fucking difficult," aviva sighed.

"well, even if he somehow got out, which he won't, he wouldn't know where we live," corpse said, attempting to look on the bright side.

"i guess so," aviva said. "i'm so exhausted. for so long i was actually truly happy, and i just know this is gonna fuck it up again. all i wanna do is be with you and live my life, but for some bullshit reason the world doesn't wanna let me."

corpse pressed his lips to aviva's, pulling away a few seconds later. "well, the world isn't stopping you from one of those things." corpse smiled at aviva. she smiled back. it was impossible to not smile back to him.

"holy shit rae, that was such a good round!"

"i know right! that has to be one of our best ones together yet."

blake: where the fuck are you

blake: we need to go

blake: did you seriously forget?

"shit. guys, i'm so sorry, i need to go. i completely forgot i have to be somewhere right now."

"it's ok viva, don't worry about it."

"i told you not to call me that, corpse."

"and i told you that 'not liking the name' isn't a good enough reason for me."

"nothing's good enough for you."

he chuckled.

aviva quickly changed into some nicer clothes and went downstairs. she didn't have time to put makeup on.

"i can't believe you forgot."

"i'm sorry blake. my friends asked me if i wanted to hop on and play with them and i just lost track of time."

"oh so now your 'friends' are more important than me?"

"look, i'm sorry, ok?"

aviva and blake arrived at a restaurant, and greeted blake's family. they had planned to go out to eat all together.

"you look kind of...different, aviva. did something happen?"

"no? i just don't have makeup on."

"wait, you're telling us you only look good with 10 pounds of makeup on? sheesh blake, you couldn't have done any better?"

they all laughed hysterically.

"i-i just didn't have time to put makeup on before we left the house-"

"why? because it takes you 12 hours to do it?"

they laughed even harder.

they had their dinner, aviva staying out of the conversation. they still continued to talk about her a ton. the time finally came for them to go home.

"alright aviva, how about next time you put on some makeup so we don't have to look at your ugly ass face while we're eating hm?"

aviva didn't respond.

"stop sulking aviva."

"you have to admit, they weren't wrong."

as soon as they got home, aviva went to her streaming room as fast as possible. she began sobbing as soon as she got in there.

she always went to her streaming room when she had to get away from the world.

it was her safe place.

usually.

"stop crying like a little bitch and come to bed."

this was when aviva woke up.

"fuck." she made sure to stay quiet in case corpse was asleep. she looked at him, and sure enough he was. her only choice was to try to fall back asleep. corpse needed sleep so badly, and she was not going to let herself be the reason why he wasn't getting it.

she didn't sleep the whole rest of the night.

at around 8am corpse woke up. "morning sleepy head," aviva said, corpse looking at her.

"i haven't slept like that in months," corpse said, beginning to sit up. he then remembered everything that happened the night before. "how did you sleep?"

"i didn't." aviva sighed. "i had another nightmare about b and i couldn't fall back asleep."

"viva, i told you to wake me up if it happened again," corpse said, sounding disappointed but worried about her.

"like you just said, you haven't slept like that in months. i was not gonna ruin that for you," aviva said. corpse rolled his eyes. "besides, it wasn't as bad as the one yesterday anyway."

"what was it?" corpse asked.

"it was that night i told you about, where i went to dinner with blake and his family," aviva explained.

"i'm so sorry viva," corpse said, pulling her into a hug. "you don't deserve any of this."

"you know what else i don't deserve?" aviva asked.

"what?" corpse asked, coming out of the hug and looking at her.

"you."

--

"aviva had an abusive ex, didn't she?"

"yeah...why?"

"no reason."
