Chapter 9 - Moving In

Start from the beginning

And what was she going on about 'people like myself'? I think I was missing the picture here - some vital puzzle piece. She knew something that I didn't. It was big - I could feel it. There is something I don't know about myself - but she seems to have the answers. This ain't your average collage. Something weird was going on behind its curtains. Did she know about me?

This wasn't just food for thought. This was someone cramming it down my throat. The murder, the school, Ms. Marcia, Harley, Abbey, home, the ravens, the vision of Mitch and Melissa - it was all too much! And somehow all those things were linked together in one way or the other - which they all seemed to lead back to me and my visions.

What the hell was going on!

"What do you mean..." she cut me off again.

"Come on now, I'm sure you're exhausted. We'll talk more tomorrow - let me show you to your dorm room" she uttered, keeping up the perfect pretence.

I followed her like the lost puppy I currently was.

                                                             * * * *

Though the school seemed inviting and warm, there was something eerie beneath the exterior, a secret. Power exuded around the place. I picked up the strangest of energies.

The first storey was boys' dormitories, the second was classrooms and the third was girls. The dorm rooms were aranged from year 10 to 12, then teachers. Each dorm room was shared by a pair and was completely what I least expected to see.

I tried to forget all the abnormal stuff going on and just focus on the present and the academy around me.

Ms. Marcia informed me that dinner was at seven sharp every night and ended at eight. Lights out was at half past nine exactly on school nights and went out at ten on weekends. Classes began at nine and finished at half past three. It all seemed pretty reasonable.

It had just gone nine.

"Here we are, you'll be sharing your room with Evelyn Moore. She'll show you around and I'm sure you two will be the best of friends."

"Thankyou Ms. Marcia" I replied.

I didn't quite feel comfortable with her for a reason I couldn't quite put my finger on.

So then she opened the door and introduced me to Evelyn.

Though Evelyn wasn't quite who I saw. I saw the room.

I guess I was expecting some bare room with off-white walls and a bunk bed - a smallish room with a little window, a bit of furniture here and there, all tidy and neat, no technology and a prissy blond as my roommate.

What I got and saw was the total opposite.

The room was well sized, far from small but not overly big - it was spacious and roomy but just right. The walls were a pale baby sky blue and two double beds sat one on each side of the room. A door leading to the bathroom was in the middle of it all. There were two desks and a lap top on each of them. There was a cosy corner, with a flat screen TV and a sofa. There were bean bags and a big fluffy aqua rug that covered the creamy coloured carpet. There were two separate windows of medium size laid with matching mint green curtains. There was a book shelf filled with books ranging from dark fantasies to scary mysteries and then some classics like Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility even Dracula was there.

Posters filled up one side of the wall, Evelyn's side of the room. Posters of bands that I knew, that I quite loved. There was Paramore, a Parkway Drive, an Escape the Fate - Death Cab For Cutie, The Used. Some were portrait while others were landscape - and with that they all fit perfectly. It was one big musical collage. Good, we like the same music.
