Valentina Amon, the daughter of a man who served faithfully towards the Graysons its family name. The girl grew up without a father and an unstable brother who thought it best if he acted reckless, excusing his behaviour because of grief and remorse.
She, on the other hand, bottled up those emotions throughout her high school year as her brother built an agonizingly painful reputation, trashing her family name. Being the only sane person in their family, she fled her home and moved to London, where she began attending a prestigious college in remembrance of where her parents first met.
Still, after years of her brother's disappearance, she continuously sent him money every month, even though it was draining her savings account. Valentina was a strong woman who consisted of many hardships during her teenage years, though she's covered it with a job that takes her mind off those horrid memories she encountered.
'Fiancée for hire', a company of a dropout friend, landed her money that she needed to stay afloat, especially if she wanted to support her brother, wherever he was.
Maintaining her high grades, she worked as a fiancèe for a short period of time, never longer than three months, after all, she was fresh out of college, almost a grown woman, all she needed was a permanent job she loved and she was set.
"Val, there you are." Max, an ex-college student she attended with called out her name when she arrived at his office doors.
The younger girl noticed his eyes brightened at the sight of her, in a platonic way of course, even if she tried, he was batting for the other team.
"There's a possibility that you'll hate me for this, but this one is paying a fuck ton of money." The man began, handing Val a file based on what the internet conveyed the woman as.
"Hazel Grayson," Val murmured in slight disgust of the name, she instantly closed the file and tossed it on the desk unmercifully. "Max, I-I can't."
Max looked at the younger girl pitifully, already knowing the tragic story that the world displayed of her father and his demise. "You can Val. It's a fake ring with a fake relationship. You're only in this for the money, and that's what I'm giving you if you accept this. I hate seeing you always coming back because of your no good of a brother who God knows where."
Val took a moment to comprehend what she was about to do. She's done this twice before, and both times she received a generous amount of money, but not enough for her to last five months before she had to come crawling back for another round. No other clients have been as well known as the Graysons, not even close to where they stood in the economy and the eye of the public, so being fiancèes with Hazel surely wouldn't be a secret nor easy to keep on the down-low.
It wasn't that her grudge with the whole family, but in particular, it was the father. Nonetheless, anyone who shared the Grayson name still haunted her mind, reminding her of the death of her father, who died protecting the ex-senator who's currently off the grid.
The Grayson name wasn't all that bothered her, it was Hazel who also had a reputation. Lies, betrayal and greed all came at the cost of money, and the Graysons must surely be bathing in it if not drowning by it, considering their billionaire family name.
But it all came down to her, the decision wasn't anyone else's but hers. With all the pros and cons weighing at the back of her mind, she came to a decision, a decision she'll surely regret sooner or later.
"Give me the contract."
