"Well, I'm carrying a lethal weapon. If I want the curly fries, I will have the curly fries." Noah countered, but Stiles didn't care for anything he had to say. His mind was reeling with the importance of keeping him fit and healthy.
"If you think getting rid of contractions in all your sentences makes your argument any more legitimate, you. are. wrong."
"I personally think we should try going vegan," Margo finally spoke up, "or at the very least cutting meat down. It's not good for your cholesterol," she added on as she leant forward to insert herself into the tension and Noah sighed as he looked back to his daughter.
"You too?" He asked, and she offered a smile and a nod.
"That's actually a good idea, thank you Mal," Stiles added on as he turned back to look at his sister, "I think we should all go vegetarian. Do you know any recipes?"
"I know plenty," she assured, and Noah looked between them in dismay. He almost regretted bringing them out on this small adventure because if he hadn't then they wouldn't be having this conversation right now.
The static sound of the radio echoed throughout the car and the three silenced, "unit one, do you copy?" The dispatcher asked.
Stiles reached out to grab it and Noah quickly bats his hand to get him to stop causing Margo to smile as she watched the pair with amusement. It was the little things that made you happy.
Noah wiped his hand on his trousers to get rid of the salt and grease before he reached out grabbing onto the radio, "unit one, copy."
"Got a report of a possible one-eight-seven."
Stiles immediately looked over to his dad with his mouth filled with french fries whilst Margo's eyes went wide although it was not with a shared excitement that her brother would have hoped for. "A murder?" He asked, his words unintelligible through the number of carbs he'd shoved into them.
After receiving the location, they drove to the Video 2*C store which was one Margo would confess she didn't go to often. Due to the fact she'd spent the past three years constantly travelling and constantly writing she didn't have much time to watch movies. If she did watch a movie it was always one she already owned and knew she liked. The Dead Poets Society and The Mummy (1999) being her favourite and most obvious choices.
It looked like they'd walked into a space movie with all the lights coming from the police cars and the ambulance. Occasionally the lights would reflect on their own faces and whilst they'd been told to stay in the car, they didn't. They never did. Stiles had a curiosity for the crime and Margo simply wanted to see what was happening. No-one ever noticed her anyway so it didn't make much difference.
"Why the hell can't I just go home? I'm fine." Jackson shouted as he pushed himself up from the seat on the ambulance. Stiles knew his name and he was curious as to how it was going to go down but Margo was just watching trying to piece together everything that had happened. Multiple stories had formed in her mind but she couldn't tell you which one made the most sense. None of them made sense to her.
"I hear ya, but the EMT says you hit your head pretty hard. They just wanna make sure you don't have a concussion," Noah assured holding out his hands in hopes of calming Jackson down although it wasn't working very well.
"What part of "I'm fine" are you having a problem grasping? Okay, I want to go home."
"And I understand that-"
"No, you don't understand that, which kind of blows my mind, since it should be a pretty basic concept to grasp for a minimum-wage rent-a-cop like you! Okay, now, I want to go home!" Margo winced at the insult and she could see her dad close his eyes for a second trying to calm himself down.
