"Is it not good?" I wondered.

"Average."

Is that good or bad?

I tasted it and even I knew it wasn't the same as Levi had previously made it.

"So did your mom make this for you often?" I wondered, hoping that asking wouldn't upset him.

"It was one of the only things she did make. There were only so many ingredients you could buy so there weren't a lot of options. I liked it better than anything else she so made an effort to make it for me a lot. Tasting it after such a long time reminds me of the fond memories." Levi explained, with a warm expression.

"What would you say is your favourite memory?" I asked.

"I don't know. I think my favourite memories was when she was showing her true smile. Because of the work she did, she would be abused a lot and I knew she was hurt but she never wanted me to worry so she'd fake a smile. I knew from the beginning that she was trying to remain strong for my benefit. I think if she never had me she never would have forced herself to remain in that awful place." Levi explained.

I remained silent.

"She was pretty much lousy at most things. She was terrible at cutting my hair. She'd always catch my hair in the scissors because of how blunt they were." Levi commented.

I giggled slightly.

"She sounds like she made the best out of a bad situation. I don't have a lot of memories of my mother. I think I have more memories of my grandparents than I do with her." I mentioned.

"How come?"

"My parents would always spend most of the nights off to their secret meetings, and when Zeke was a part of the Warrior program, they spent a lot of time imbedding a lot of stuff into his mind. I remember Zeke crying a lot because of how much pressure he was under. I was too sick and frail for them to even spend some quality time with me." I explained.

"You were so young I'm surprised you remember anything." Levi mentioned.

"Yeah... I have a few memories of mother singing me to sleep when I was especially sick. She was good at knitting so most of the clothes I owned were made by her. I think she would have put more time into me if my father wasn't dragging her to so many meetings. And from what I gathered from Sohma's memories, she did care about us a lot, and she wanted so much more for us." I explained.

"Sounds like we both had shitty upbringings. My mother passed away when I was very young. The only father figure I had ran out on me, your parents were too focused on freeing their people to worry about their own children. The only thing we can do is make sure Lilliana has the proper childhood she deserves. Neither of us are allowed to die or have anything bad happen to us, understood?" Levi explained.

I nodded and smiled.

"She needs both her parents to watch her grow. Hopefully, we can have a peaceful world one day." I mentioned, looking out of the window.

Levi reached his hand across the table and grabbed my hand tightly.

I looked at him and smiled.

I grabbed his hand and squeezed it, letting him know it's okay.

~~

Three weeks have passed since Lilliana was born. It feels like she had grown so much.

I had just finished giving her a bath and I had her wrapped in a towel on the bed.

She was moving her little arms and legs and making small noises. She was a little thumb sucker which meant she soothed herself a lot of the time. Don't get me wrong; there have been a lot of long sleepless nights but thankfully enough Levi took over for most of it. He said he wanted to because he was used to not getting a lot of sleep.

I swear that was his excuse for everything. But hey, I'm not complaining.

I dressed Lilliana and I cradled her in my arms.

"(y/n), can I talk to you for a moment?" Levi asked, walking into the room.

"Sure, what is it?" I asked.

"Are you feeling crowded here at headquarters?" Levi asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Raising Lilianna; you know this isn't the best place to be raising a child. We need to live in a more comfortable environment, so I spoke to Hange and I arranged a place for us to live." Levi explained.

I let out a gasp.

"Wait w-what do you mean a place for us to live? Where?" I wondered.

"Because we reclaimed wall Maria, we were given a big sum of money so I bought us a house. It's not the biggest house but it's big enough for the three of us, it's near the farms and the orphanage so you're not too far away from work and I'm about to come to HQ whenever and not worry about being too far away from you." Levi explained.

I couldn't contain my big smile.

"That's amazing Levi! I'm so happy!" I cheered.

I wanted to hug him but I had Lilianna in my arms. Levi stepped closer and wrapped his arms around me. He pressed his lips against my forehead.

"But there's one condition that I want you to agree on." Levi spoke.

"What is it?" I wondered.

"I want you to resign from the Scouts."
