"And don't worry about the rent. I already transferred some money on your account."

And having said this, he turns around again, his frame slowly disappearing form my sight as he has me speechless.

Three minutes later I'm still standing there, by the open door, not moving an inch. He's striding from left to right for a while before he finally pulls his oversized denim jacket on and exits the apartment with a rumbling slam to the door.

If anyone's ever wondered what vulnerability feels and looks like... then I'm a vivid example.

*flashback ends here*

He's gone. And now I feel like it's for good.

"Yeah, mom, I'm fine." I say sheepishly answering this very not-right-place-not-right-time question while I'm on my way to work. She is aware things haven't been great with Taehyung lately, but isn't familiar with details. I love her, but it'd break her heart knowing Tae left me. Or rather, decided he needed some time alone. "Last few days were busy, and I still have tons of paper piling up in the office, but the next month seems more... benevolent." an involuntary grimace on my face as soon as I'm realizing the interns are starting this week and benevolence is not a proper word and 'hellish' would fit my previous utterance perfectly.

"Why don't you pop over next week... say Saturday? I'll make your favorite fried rice with kimchi" I can imagine mom almost jumping in excitement now, her eyes widen and she can't stop smiling. "Dad and I have been missing you, sweet pea." I roll my eyes hearing this, but at the same my heart's about to melt. I'm their only child and I know they wish they could stop the time to enjoy me still being a little girl.

"Sounds great. I'll leave right after breakfast and text you's when I'm on the road" I eventually agree, believing the time spent at parents' home will make me feel better. At least I can try. "Listen, moms, I need to go. I just arrived at work. I love you and dad." I blow a kiss towards the screen, even though none of them sees that and I hang up.

Having entered the building, I'm overwhelmed with another wave of thoughts.

In a cruel need of coffee, I rush to my office, at the same time taking off the coat. Once I'm inside, I toss my stuff on the desk and I head towards cafeteria. I notice Nick, who's my boss and his overnice smile while he's stirring his tea.

"Y/N!" he shouts happily and I nod to greet him, "Has the news already reached you?" My eyes widen immediately at his words. What could it be?

I frown and furrow my brows in confusion and Nick giggles before taking a sip of his fruity drink.

"So I guess you haven't spoken with Yeonju yet. That would make sense. Well, I'm not the kind of person who spills the beans." he winks at me and pats me on the shoulder. Yeonju's been the closest person in the company and probably also in general. Being with Taehyung was always enough for me, as we used to spend most of our free time together, so I never needed many friends around. We usually hanged out with Tae's friends and with Jimin, my kindred spirit from uni, and his girlfriend. Yeonju, however, has always been there for me, even though she never pressured me into confiding. She respected my privacy, so I never had a chance to get too emotional in front of her.

"Should I worry?" I ask, a little puzzled as I move closer to the coffee machine and pick the drink.

"Were I you... I wouldn't. Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you." Nick adds and this totally baffles me.
