"Well, that was fun." JJ said, the three of them having made their way out of the motel and walked towards the HMS Pogue.

"Maybe for you, I'm terrified of heights." Amelia said.

"Could have warned us sooner." John B said towards the two darker skinned Pogues.

"We would have, except Pope was on the math team." Kie said in defense.

"You were on the math team?" JJ asked looking at the boy in question, incredulously.

"Of course he was, have you seen his grades?" Amelia said, gesturing towards the short haired boy.

"The cops took everything like it was a crime scene." JJ said, boarding the Pogue.

"Did you guys find anything?" Pope asked.

"Did we find anything? No, I don't think so. Oh, yeah, we did." JJ said, taking out a bundle of cash and the gun.

"What the hell?"

"Dude, what?"

"Dude, chill. Come on."

"Why take that from a crime scene?" Kie asked, exasperated at the blonde boy's actions.

"Better than cops having it." JJ said in his defense.

"You serious?" Kie asked, rolling her eyes.

Amelia stayed silent throughout the whole ordeal, knowing that choosing sides would cause a fight between her friends.

"I'm gonna lose my merit scholarship." Pope said, panicking.

"Hey, hey, hey. Sh, sh, sh. sh, sh." JJ held the gun up to Pope's lips, trying to silence him, causing the darkskinned boy to panic even more. "At least you have us, right?"

"I'm living the nightmare." He replied.

The five teenagers arrived at the coast gaurds office as they were loading a body onto a gurney. They walked towards where a girl around their age stood, watching a woman rush towards the body.

"Scooter? Scooter? Oh, God!" the woman shouted, crying over the loss of the now identified man.

"Who's that?" John B asked.

"It's Scooter Grubbs. He was out during the storm." the girl answered. "Check out this pic I got."

The moment Amelia looked at the picture, she regretted it. Staring back at her were the dead eyes of Scooter Grubbs. She had too fight the urge to gag with everything in her.

"Dead body."

"Insane."

"Holy shit."

"What kind of boat did he have?" John B once again asked the girl.

"Somehow, that dirtbag copped a brand-new Grady-White." she answered. "Everyone's out looking for it."

***

"Okay. So, um... we didn't see anything." Pope said, pacing on the porch of the chateau. "We don't know anything. We need to have total and complete amnesia."

"Actually, Pope's right for once." JJ agreed.

"He usually is." Amelia said, from her spot on the floor, between JJ's legs.

"See, I agree with you sometimes." JJ said, ignoring Amelia's comment. He picked up a piece of her hair and started to play with it, running his fingers through her hair, causing a shiver too run down her spine. "Deny, deny, deny."

"Guys, we can't keep that money." Kiara said.

"Okay. Not all of us can afford unlimited data plans, Kiara." JJ scoffed.

"We have to pass that off to Lana Grubbs. Otherwise, it's bad karma." Kie explained.

"I agree with Kie. I mean that money was there for a reason, for all we know it was their retirement fund or something." The blonde girl said, getting a few looks from the two boys around her.

"Bad karma to be implicated in a felony, too." Pope said. "We gotta go dark."

"If that means we get to keep the money, then I agree." JJ said, now braiding Amelia's hair.

"I don't agree." the brunette boy said.

"What? Why?" the other teens questioned.

"Just think about it." John B started to explain. "This is Scooter Grubbs we're talking about. Same dude that's buying individual cigarettes at the Porthole. Shit, one time I saw this dude begging
for change in the Save-A-Lot parking lot, because he needed gas. We're talking about a dirtbag marina rat who's never had more than 40 bucks in his pocket, and all of a sudden, he's got a Grady-White? Just sayin'. All right, so think about it, Pope. How does a marina rat get a Grady-White?"

"Prostitution." the boy in guestion answered, feelling proud of his deduction.

"Square groupers, bro." John B corrected. "Okay, flying under the radar, no aerial surveillance. They don't do that stuff during a hurricane. What does that mean? JJ?"

"They were straight smugglin'." The blonde said, asking Amy for a hair tie to finish off his braid.

"Smugglin'." John B confirmed. "And I guarantee
there's a serious amount of contraband in that wreck."

"Hold on, do you guys know how crazy this sounds? Why would Scooter Grubbs go out on his brand new boat, during a hurricane, to collect contraband?" Amelia asked, trying too make sense of the situation.

"That's what we need too figure out, Lia." The blonde boy behind her, answered, his fingers finishing with his newly made braid.

"Fish on!" JJ exclaimed from his spot on the edge of the dock, having caught a fish.

"For the record, if that is a smuggling ship with illegal contraband on the inside of it... it probably belongs to someone else." Pope said, pointing out the obvious.

"Minor details." John B said.

"They could come looking for it." Pope said, trying to get his point across. "Taking it would be catastrophically stupid."

"Right. Well, stupid things have good outcomes all the time." JJ said, looking over his shoulder at the others.

"Since when? If I remember correctly, you two were the ones who broke into some dead guy's motel room and almost got arrested for it." Amelia said, rolling her eyes and looking pointedly at JJ and John B.

"Okay, Lia, point taken. Next time just warn us sooner." JJ said, seemingly proud at his solution, causing the girl to roll her eyes once more.

"All we need to do is figure out a way to get into the cargo hold of that wreck." John B said, ignoring the two blondes' lovers quarrel. "Until then, we just lay low. Just act normal."

"Right. And how exactly do we do that?" Pope asked, causing the girls to look at each other in excitement.

"Kegger?"
