Ether swiftly rose from his chair, making his way to the door. Before exiting the nearly empty room, he uttered his words with a cold and desperate tone, "Probably."
SOMEWHERE IN THE WORLD—A POWERFUL MILITARY BASE
"Captain! We can't keep making changes and adapting without a solid plan to confront the demons! They're not simple creatures. What's the plan here? We need a solid decision from our base, and it needs to be shared with everyone!"
The soldier followed the Captain, who strode confidently across the sprawling military training grounds. The toothpick in his mouth and the nonchalant hands-in-pocket stance contrasted with the gravity of the situation.
"We can't wait around for the perfect plan, Major Bruce," the Captain replied with an unsettling, hollow chuckle. "I understand we can't keep changing plans, but every strategy has its flaws, and this one will be no exception. We're up against a formidable demon; this is no game. Lives will be lost, but it's a price we must pay."
"Pri—Price to what?! What are you saying?!"
"Remember. Often, humans are worse than demons."
Just then, someone came sprinting toward them, skidding to a halt in front of the pair. "Captain! We've made some progress on the research. That figure is indeed a demon! His name is... Harakiri Azrael!"
The Captain's eyes widened with anticipation. "Is that so? How do you know?"
"We recently captured another demon, similar to the one in the photograph. But this one displayed more pronounced physical abnormalities, like elongated teeth and tongue. Despite its weakened state, we managed to extract information from it. According to the demon, their creator is Harakiri Azrael—the same entity causing harm to humans, Captain."
"Excellent work! Let me speak with it. Where is it?" He tossed his toothpick aside.
"Y—Yes! Follow me!"
The Captain entered a cell, where the prisoners had been held before the demon's rampage had set them free. Iron chains held the creature, attached to its arms and legs. It eyed the Captain and spoke in a deep voice, "Who are you? Let me guess... Another visitor? I'm tired of you, humans, disturbing my thoughts..."
"C—Captain Amato! We thought you'd left us behind!"
Captain Amato, a high-ranking military officer within the MG2 organization, stood firm. Known for his unwavering bravery and leadership, he inspired respect among his subordinates. His fearless dedication to his team and mission made him a true warrior who never hesitated to put himself in harm's way. Regardless of the risks, Captain Amato remained steadfast, fighting for justice and inspiring those who served under him.
Instead of saying something, he slowly crouched down and pointed a finger toward the demon. "Listen here, trash. Why is your creator, this guy Azrael, doing all of this?"
"What's the matter? Can't he have a little fun?"
In response, the Captain issued a warning, his knife slicing through the demon's face to make his point. "I advise you not to make me repeat myself."
The wound on the demon's face disappeared, and it grinned once more. "I already gave you an honest answer. He's doing it for fun. There's no other reason. Even if it were a lie, what's the point of hiding it? It wouldn't change a thing. You, humans, can't harm him. He's a God Demon, feared even in the depths of space."
"What would happen if we manage to eliminate him?"
The shadowy demon let out a mocking laugh. "Eliminate him? You think you can? Well, in that case, I'd have no choice but to concede that humans are indeed stronger than demons! Listen... That demon is something else. He is as old as the creation of this world. He gives me the creeps thinking about it."
The Captain's frustration was evident as he violently threw his knife to the ground, cracking the concrete and embedding the blade. "Very well," he muttered before leaving the room.
"Captain! What do we do with this thing? No matter what we do, his wounds heal almost instantly! Even a shot to the head won't stop him!"
"Prepare your weapons and spirits!" the Captain bellowed.
"What are your orders, Captain Amato?"
"We're going demon hunting."
