As we shuffled and dashed through the castle, we were careful to make no noise and leave no evidence behind of us ever being there.
And as much as I enjoy a good adventure, this was far more bizarre than what I could even imagine.
Lilith stayed behind me as we traveled and explored the luxurious home, and it took all of my self control to not stop to look around.
This was a one shot kind of thing and part of me wanted to explore while the other part of me just wanted to get this all over with.
After we made our way to a small staircase, we ascended up, trying to keep our feet light so any creaky steps would stay quiet. There was a close call when one of the steps made a creaking noise to which we ignored and kept walking.
Upstairs was even more of a puzzle thn downstairs as it was less open. Hallways intertwined and guards stood around every corner.
I kept a wand in hand at all times and now was the time to use it.
With a slick movement of my wand and I muttered a spell I had once overheard, the floor the guards stood became slippery.
Once they adjusted their feet, they noticed it was now slippery and they cleared the hallway to go and either notify the maids or clean it themselves.
I slipped in the room with elaborate jewelry which was connected to an elaborately decorated bedroom.
Oh to have that kind of money.
I scanned the room for the emerald jewelry before my eyes latched onto it.
I turned to Lilith and motioned for her to close and lock the door to both the bedroom and jewelry room as I muttered "Muffliato"
Now that the doors were locked and nobody could hear what was occurring inside the room, Lilith shattered the glass with a spell I couldn't quite hear.
The glass case around the green gems came crumbling down, allowing for me to pocket the jewelry underneath my robe. As I did so, the door came flying open and the two of us met face to face with a guard who quickly understood what we had come for.
Lilith pointed her wand to the large window and whispered the spell again as we watched the glass shatter in front of us. This all happened within a second, so the guard couldn't quite stop us.
Lilith and I jumped out the large window and she muttered yet another spell to soften our fall. We both landed on the freshly mowed and well kept lawn where the guard came jumping out shortly after us, bringing a few others as well.
Once we fell, we quickly stood to our feet and ran as fast as we could while also making sure not to fall or injure ourselves.
We ran on a path to who knows where as the guards chased behind us.
Once we had gotten far enough from them, we came to a stop where Lilith then apparated us to the outside of the ministry of magic. The building was elaborate and had a dome like roof. That was how we knew we were in the right place.
Now, how are two dead girls going to sneak into a densely populated building?
"Lilith," I spoke softly but urgently, "How are two dead people supposed to sneak into the ministry?"
"Polyjuice potion,"
"What?" I muttered.
"It's a potion that can turn us into different people so we can look like them, it's a disguise,"
We both stood in silence for a moment.
"It takes an awfully long time to brew though and I don't think we need another close call of being caught or anything like that," She sighed.
"So now what are we going to do?" I questioned.
"Shrinking spell or invisibility spell are the only ones I can think of,"
She took out her wand and casted the disillusionment charm on herself and then me.
"What does it do?" I asked.
"Makes us blend in, like camouflage,"
Once we were camouflaged, we stepped inside the ministry where we didn't look too out of place as many people used magic here.
We found a confidently walking man and followed him where the elevators were and ended up in a corridor with around a dozen elevators. We both stepped inside one with a few other people who stayed silent as we went down a few levels.
We located the floor where room 229A should be, but then again, nothing about this quest has been predictable.
As we passed through the corridors, searching for 229A, we were unsuccessful. The closest we found was 228 followed by 230. Nothing about 229A.
The jewelry sat uncomfortably in my pocket as we searched and searched, eager to finish this quest.
Hopefully finding this bloody room won't be another quest in itself.
I also find it strange to think that nobody is known to have been able to complete this quest before, as to why it's referred to as infinite. It doesn't seem that hard to complete as long as you have some basic prior knowledge.
