What doesn't this guy get about not wanting to talk about it, Minyeon thought to herself. Yet she was used to it by now and already expected a full conversation.

She smiled pitifully at her brother, "I wish but he's quite literally famous now. I highly doubt he would still want to be friends with us."

Jaemin shook his head, taking a bite of his steak and swallowing it before he continued with the conversation. "Donghyuck isn't like that. He never was."

The light fixture above their head flickered for a second. Looking past the nearly broken kitchen window blinds, the two could see rain beginning to pour down harder.

Minyeon scoffed slightly, taking a bite of her food as she shook her head, ignoring the sound of crackling thunder outside. Jaemin watched the action, only taking a bite of his food a few seconds later after another strike of lightning.

"He never was when he wasn't famous." She corrected, the words coming out sounding more bitter than intended.

She continued, "he was still the same sweet guy when he was recording songs in his bedroom and playing video games on his family computer. But it's been five years since we last had contact with him. He could've changed more than we could imagine in that time span."

"I don't believe it," Jaemin protested.
"You don't want to believe it," Minyeon corrected him, taking a bite of her food.

There was a feeling in Minyeon's stomach that made her contemplate finishing her food. All the talk about Donghyuck was messing with her head and stomach.

Jaemin sighed, his elbow coming into contact with the table as he leaned against his palm, "why are you so against becoming friends with Donghyuck again? Seriously, you two used to be inseparable."

"Yes, keyword, Jaemin. Used. I would do anything to have things go back to normal, really. But we have all grown up, including Donghyuck. All of us have different interests now. It's not the same as when we were kids."

Jaemin could tell his sister was hiding something from him but didn't push his limits. He would find out what it was soon enough anyways.

"No, you haven't. Both of you are still so similar. He wants to be a singer, you want to be a songwriter. He wants to be someone who can communicate through his songs to people. You want to communicate through your lyrics to people. You're both still the same mischievous kids who want more than anything to help people in any way possible."

Jaemin's eyes drifted back over to the window as the dark night sky lit up as a deep shade of purple before returning back to its normal shade.

Right... it's going to be raining all week, he mentally sighed to himself. He wasn't looking forward to having to carry around his umbrella and having to keep his rain boots at hand.

Minyeon shook her head, "well then... I don't know, I guess. Jaemin, look, I'm really- I'm really just not in the mood to talk about him right now. Please just understand that for once."

Jaemin finally nodded, not wanting to upset his sister any further. The two continued to eat in silence, only having each other's presence while they ate.

Another crack of thunder and lightning. The light above the two went out for ten seconds before coming back on.

"Kids?"

Jaemin and Minyeon sat up hearing their mother's voice. Their plates of food were left alone as they both stood up, heading to her room.

"Yes, mother," the two called out simultaneously, walking through the woman's bedroom doorway.

The older lady smiled seeing her two kids walk over to her bed, taking seats on the edge. "When were you two going to tell me Donghyuck was back in town?"
