Chapter Sixteen - An 18 Year Old's First Ever DMC

Start from the beginning

“Whitney Ferro’s a murderer, right?” she says, as I raised my eyebrows. “I totally saw it coming. I knew there was something wrong with her. Should we turn her in? How many people has she killed? Does she do any freaky ritual before she goes to bed? Fill me in with everything.”

“What?” I said, confused. “No! She’s not a murderer. She may be scary as hell but definitely not a murderer, I don’t think.”

“Oh,” she said, disappointed. “Then what else did I say?”

“You know,” I mumble. “The Alistar thing.”

She doesn’t respond.

“The Alistar crush thing,” I add on reluctantly. Was she doing this on purpose? “It may be true.”

“That you have a crush on him?” She finally asks.

I flush, nodding.

She blinks at me, before she says, “Oh. Oh. That’s what you have to tell me? I knew that already. I’ve been telling you I knew for the past few weeks, Stace. Do you take me for an idiot? I know how to read signs, and when he’s around two red heart’s literally pop out from your eyes.”

“I thought you were just teasing me,” I say, flushing even deeper. How embarrassing.

“Well I was, on like the first day or whatever. Until I realised how serious it was,” she stops, then studies me for a bit. “Wait, oh my god, don’t tell me you didn’t know what you felt for him was love—”

“Interest, not love.”

She ignores me, “You didn’t know that it was love? Oh my goodness, Stace. That’s so cute. You’re such a virgin!”

“Viv!” I exclaimed, regaining all the dirty looks from people. I must’ve looked as red as a chilli pepper now because I certainly felt as hot as one right now. “Don’t say things like that so casually.”

“See what I mean?” She nods. “A total virgin. Virgin enough to not even be able to admit she’s a virgin. Just adorable.”

“I am done with you,” I say, grabbing my books and was about to jet to the exit but she grabs me my wrists and gestures for me to sit back down.

“Okay, I’m sorry,” Vivian says. “I was just so happy that you decided to finally confront me about your feelings. It felt nice to know that you trust me enough to tell me that, I can tell you don’t confess your feelings a lot.” She smiles gently at me.

“Yeah, I really don’t,” I nod in agreement.

“That’s fine,” Vivian laughs. “Practise makes perfect. Tell you what, I'm not saying that I'm the best matchmaker or love teller but I can tell you and Alistar and going to be just fine. Right things find a way eventually, or however that saying goes.”

“Viv…”

“Trust me, I know what I'm talking about,” Vivian says, as she gives my hand a squeeze.

☠ Alistar’s POV

“I can’t believe you really did it, man,” Damon said once we had finished football practise. “You really turned a human into a vampire. That’s cruel.”

“I know,” I groaned as I flopped onto my bed. I was exhausted and most of my muscles were sore as fuck. “I totally messed up.”

“Yes, you did. Should’ve just killed her.”

“I’ve been telling myself that non-stop for the past few weeks. I thought she was going to leave me alone as a thank you gift for leaving her alive, didn’t know she was going to stalk me away all the way to England.”

“Why are you even here?” Damon asks, as he throws me a clean T-shirt.

“What other reason is there?” I tell him. “Stacey.”

I see Damon somewhat stiffen but he must’ve not wanted me to notice, since he laughs and says, “Right, of course. That weird blood bond thing and how she’s your top priority. How could I forget?”

I looked at him, he was acting weird. He often acted like this when we talked about Stacey so we barely brought up the topic but since he started it, why not make the most of it?

“How much longer are you going to act like a complete idiot around Stacey? That’s not who you truly are.”

“As long as it still makes her smile,” Damon swirls around on his chair. “I don’t mind being the biggest idiot in the world as long as it keeps that girl smiling.”

“Wait, Damon… do you like Stacey?”

Damon’s eyes darken and he scowls. “That’s none of your concern. Right now, she’s just a friend to me. So if you’re worried that I’ll make a move on her, don’t think too much about it. That’s not going to happen. Just take care of Whitney so Stacey’s not going to get hurt.”

“See? If you acted like this around Stacey, I’m sure she’d be impressed. No need to act like a complete blockhead.”

“At least I act, Alistar, while you’re actually a complete idiot.”

“Me?”

“Yes, you.” He turns back around and begins tapping away on his laptop. “Besides, I could say the same to you. When are you going to stop acting like such a self-absorbed jerk around her before you realise that it’s going to hurt her someday?”

“That’s the only way I can still talk to her, Damon. You understand.”

“No, I don’t,” he snaps at me. “I really don’t understand why you’re causing so much shit to Stacey’s life. But you sure are lucky that nothing has happened to her just yet, because if something does, I’m not going to let you go.”

I stare at him. Yeah, he was right. I was lucky that nothing had happened yet, and if something did happen, I wasn’t going to let myself go either.
