" I... how... can... you... be... sure? " Omega's voice was barely there, his voice like a ghastly ghoul trying to speak to the living. More of his body flowed off him and towards the sky as it was almost like oil floating up inside of the water. I sighed out and turned towards the horizon again as my grip pulled him in tighter, trying to keep him high up.
" I know we are flawed, we fight wars just because we think some entity like yourself wills it. We cheat and lie to each other to get ahead and at times we even pretend to be friends as if it will benefit us later. I know we look like a race that deserves no less than genocide but I swear... this is one place you could have really found a kind of happiness few will ever discover. "
" Happiness... I... wanted... to... rule. "
" And you would have found some content for a while, but ruling and protecting are two different things... Here you could even find some form of love, for nature... for another who could come to understand you. " I felt more and more weight fading as time went on. Slowly the golden glow on the horizon began to increase as the sun was nearing the edge now.
" I... don't... know.... lo- "
It was then that I could feel it freeze, feel Omega's entire body, what was left of it lock up as the sun began to crest over the horizon and that beautiful glow hit his eyes, those dark soulless eyes began to shine so brightly and almost mimic the sun as tears would form, they weren't water but seemed to be more reddish than the black hue he was still made up of. In the last moments, the remaining bits of what I could tell were his mouth curled up wide and he began to cry out as his limb, now no longer than a foot, reached out for the sun. Silence swept over me and I felt nothing beside me anymore, the last bits of black floating into the sky and disappearing as I felt a few tears of my own running down past my cheeks.
" Dipper. " I soon had Bill's hand on my shoulder and looking down to me, though he was still pretty new to being human, I could tell he was holding back the pain as he still glistened with the faint bit of tears resting just on the edge of his eyelids. " Come on, everyone is waiting. " Yet we spent another good ten minutes there, just staring out and almost knowing why we had to wait, why I needed to calm down... life is never just lost, even if it was only malice in this world... Omega knew what he lost in the end.
As the sun rose to create a beam through the center of the falls, Bill would carry me slowly towards the bunker since it was more central now than ever before. Informing everyone to meet up there with the news that he had me, we soon saw the dust trails in a few locations flow up and then stop dead as everyone took the tunnels back, some we could even see now from the split earth all around. We landed and walked into the entrance that went straight for the main shelter as Bill and I just took small glances at each other, trying not to laugh because I was still worn from the explosion, my clothes were little better than rags outside for my jeans, thanking the Lord for whoever invented those.
We neared the glow of the shelter as people were huddled near the gateway which was still lowered because the threat had been dealt with. I could hear them talking as Bill would smirk just a bit seeing everyone perking up as we got closer.
" Hey Dipper. "
" Ya Bill? "
" I uh, never mind. "
" Bill? " I tried to inquire further yet would find myself almost being rammed into as those boots slammed on the metal floor and arms curled inward would knock my chest with Wendy probably having held back after wanting to send me onto my backside.
" You jerk! You ass! You... you... you're alive. " Her voice became softer, weaker in her tears and quivering state. Each moment tore me apart, every soft sob would stab me straight to the core. I reach around and hug her, feeling her arms trying to push away and just hugging her tighter to keep her close as I lean down by her ear.
