The doors once again burst open, but this time it's with anger. "What's new on the internet, Superstar?" Yasmina said gruffly.
They don't like each other, that's quite obvious.
"I wouldn't know." Brooklynn emphasized each word, "because when I went to get my phone from my charger, it wasn't there!" Oh no, "someone. stole. my. phone!" she said.
"I only listened to some of my music." Hunter truthfully told her.
Everyone aired out their excuses, though Hunters sure no one was lying...expect Sammy seemed to be on edge.
"I...haven't seen it either." Sammy nervously said.
"Really?" Brooklynn asked suspiciously.
"It's ok, since we're not kayaking until later, we'll have plenty of time to look for the phone." Darius said, trying to diffuse the ticking time bomb that was rolled out between the group.
"Oh-hoho, I think I know exactly where'd to look." Brooklynn stalked around Sammy.
"I also think that whoever took the phone might be trying to hide some of the things that are on it." She glared down at Sammy, "What do you think, Sammy?" she stabbed the question into her.
Yasmina got up and stood between Brooklynn and Sammy, while Darius tried getting everyone's attention but to no avail. "SHUT THE HELL UP! Listen to Darius for a moment!" Hunter shouted.
Everyone seemed surprised to have heard him yell, but at least Darius looked thankful for his action.
"Guys! come on!" Darius pleaded.
"We can't be this upset over phones." Darius walked out to be more in the center of everyone's focus.
"Let's make the most of this incredible opportunity!" he said, "This is Jurassic World! It's-it's—" a roar from the jungle echoed through their ears.
The closest carnivore paddock is Toro's as far as Hunter knows, but that roar...it was like it was in pain. It was a scratched record, it was two rocks scraping against each other, it sounded nothing like Hunters ever heard before.
It was unnatural.
"What was that?" Brooklynn snapped Hunter out of his thoughts, "Um, a T.Rex?" Kenji asked.
"Nope, don't think so." Darius would know if it was or was not. Hunter does a lot of research on dinosaurs but Darius definitely got him beat.
Everyone ran out to the railing to see if the dinosaur was visible.
Though the massive redwood trees blocked almost everything. "Maybe they're moving a new dino from the lab to a new enclosure." Darius said, "we can probably see it from the observation tower! Could be cool!" Darius's excitement got the better of him.
Hunter noticed Sammys mood immediately change. "Wow, that's a great idea, Darius!" she grabbed him by the arm and dragged him to the elevator.
Everyone ran after them, though it seemed Ben was too incased with his drawing.
He looked up at the dinosaur skeleton that overshadowed the room. "Dude, you're either dying here or dying with us." Hunter joked.
"Wait! Guys I'm coming too!" he scrambled towards the elevator, and looked at Hunter with a fearful expression.
Hunter made a sudden face to scare him, it was quite funny to hear his scream and his struggle to leave the elevator after the doors had closed.
...
Brooklynn and Hunter stared at the others pathetic attempts to open the gates door. Since there was no adults around, maybe Hunter could show more of his troublemaker side he fully embraced before leaving school.
"Oh wow, guess we can't go in, maybe we should head back before we get in trouble." Ben tried offering but no one seemed to listen.
"We ain't goin' nowhere. Either one of y'all open this gate or I'm breaking it open." Hunter grinned mischievous, now excited to break the gate.
"Wait...where is everybody?" Kenji asked, causing the others to also realize there should be someone posted here.
"Uh, there's usually someone around." he said.
Hunter smirked and was about to prepare to break the gate but Brooklynn had already walked up to the gate before he could.
"If we're doing this." Brooklynn took some hair pin out of her hair bun, "then we might as well do this." she unlocked the door which kinda surprised
Hunter as well."Last to the top is a rotten egg!" Sammy yelled out.
Hunter immediately bolted up two—sometimes five steps at a time, he knows he's weird but it's must faster than going up one step at a time.
Hunter leaned against the railing at the top, he's first, thanks for asking.
He can hear Sammys heavy breathing from below and she finally makes it to the top. "Woo, is anyone else hot? It is hot."" she leaned against the railing beside him.
Everyone else eventually makes it up after her, Yasmina was a lot less tired than the others. "No...more...stairs!" Kenji complained from the last step.
"Suck it up, VIP!" Hunter grinned at Kenji's collapsing body.
Boom. Boom.
It's as if thunder was in the ground, obviously that's just an earthquake but hey, it sounds cool.
Definitely not a large theropod, too slow and too heavy for a carnivore. Hunter stood up and looked out into the jungle.
This thing was huge, every footstep shattered the ground and broke nature's plants.
It was a Brachiosaurus, they can tell because it revealed itself from the thick jungle but it also made its signature cry.
Everyone sighed with relief, though Hunter doesn't feel safe. He's worked with animals for many years, that sixth sense has kept him from being mauled and slashed every time. He knows when there's a predator around, because he's been hunted before, that feeling of something watching you, studying you, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
"That doesn't make any sense, Brachiosaurus's don't roar like that, they're more like—" Darius imitated his best Brachi call, Hunter was amused by it so he joined him with the call.
"Hey! What are you kids doing outside!?" Hunter heard a voice yell out from below. Something bad has happened it was now a fact to Hunter, not just a feeling.
They're being hunted.
"There's an asset out of containment!" one of the workers yelled again.
"What are they saying?" Darius asked. Hunters the only one who can hear the two workers.
As nice as it would be to leave safely with two workers who know what they're doing, Hunter doesn't feel comfortable leaving this tower.
