Wynonna Earp Magic

Start from the beginning

'Oh, I'm sorry Iev. I didn't mean to put you on the spot.' Emily steps over and rubs Iev's arm, looking at her in the mirror, an apologetic smile on her face. 'I had heard the poet had spoken, but I understand...your words are your own.'

I internally scold myself for telling Mel I had met Iev last night and what my impression was of her. She must have approached Kat about it and somehow the rumor spread to Emily. Who else knows now, I wonder.

'Okay.' Iev says quietly, spotting Emily in the mirror, she gulps nervously again.

'Twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen....we've got fifteen Iev! Fifteen braided layers.' Jo-Dee breaks the awkward moment.

'Really!? Fifteen!?' Iev does an emotional 180 as a grin appears from ear to ear.

'Shall we take a photo together?' I suggest pulling my phone from my pocket.

'Um, well, maybe we shouldn't take any pictures because maybe Car shouldn't find out that you made more layuhs than he did.' We laugh at Iev's statement. She's so endearing and considerate.

'Iev is Car your hairdresser at home?' Jo-Dee asks.

'Oh, no. Car's my... well he, he does do my hair alot.' Iev stutters awkwardly pressing her lips together.

'Oh, how is Carson? He was such a joy to hang with in San Diego.' Emily recounts enthusiastically. 'Some of us had the pleasure to meet Iev and Carson at ComicCon earlier last year. Is he still jolly as ever? We couldn't stop talking about how he and Mel tricked us into believing he was Kat's sister.' She now has her phone out scrolling through her photo reel.

'Carson's well. His Genni is graduating  high school this year.' Iev replies.

'Congratulations!' I say. Iev, now able to turn in her chair, gives me an appreciative smile.

'Look at this, isn't this a sight?' Emily puts her phone's screen in front of Jo-Dee. 'Iev, Carson is...' She fans her hand loosely in the air back and forth, shaking her head. 'How did you catch such a fella?'

'Let me see?' I lean over to Emily who flips her phone toward me. My jaw drops and my eyes widen. 'This is your boyfriend Iev?' Jo-Dee asks still in a bit of shock as I am.

'What!? No!' Iev suddenly shouts. 'No, Car isn't my boyfriend!' She clarifies abruptly shaking her head as if she were frightened by the question. We all look over at her perplexed by her sharp tone.

'Oh no?' Emily quickly regresses, 'Sorry Iev. At the con, you guys were so...glued at the hip.' Emily reasons. Iev continues to shake her head back and forth, a furrowed brow appearing over her. 'Well, you could've fooled me...actually... you both did!' Emily laughs at the realization.

'Well he is very handsome,' Jo-Dee agrees as we look at the other ComicCon photos Em shares. I felt a hand at my elbow and turn to find Iev next to me. She looks somewhat uneasy.

'Dom, can you help me find Kat...please?' she asks timidly.

I turn to face her. 'Iev of course...is everything all right?' I ask recognizing her eyes are slightly glossy.

'Umm,' she nods and turns away. 'Umm, I think she's maybe somewheah outside.' And she suddenly pushes the door open, running out of the trailer.

'Iev!...Wait it's snowing!' I grab our jackets, catching the open door with my back. 'Em, is Kat shooting right now? Can you ask her to go to my trailer please?' I don't even wait for an answer as I see Iev round the corner taking off blindly. 'Iev! Your coat!'

***

I manage to catch up to Iev and walk us back to my trailer. Luckily it was not too far away but Iev was already wet and probably shivering.

'Kat is still shooting but she'll be here soon.' Iev sat on the couch, looking up at me and then out the window at the snow. Biding time waiting for Kat to come, I begin to pull cups and teabags from my cupboard. 'Let me make some tea for us...it'll go perfectly with the weather outside.'

While the water heats up, I grab the throw from the lounge chair and wrap it around Iev. 'You're going to catch cold going without a coat in this weather.' Iev reaches up to her shoulder to grab the blanket and inadvertently grabs my hand in the process.

She suddenly redirects from her contemplative gaze and turns towards me, somewhat surprised. 'Your hands are cold.' She says reaching for my other hand and pulling them both together, clasping them between hers. Her hands encompass my own and I notice how much warmer they are than mine.

She stands up, still holding onto my hands and faces me. Somehow I am transfixed by her proximity. She silently lifts my hands toward her, separating them and places my palms onto her chest. Her hands envelop each of mine. I look up to her eyes to find them trained on mine.

I don't move nor breathe, my lips parted in awe. I don't think either of us even blinks. All I feel is Iev's chest rising and falling in sync to her heart beating as she takes several deep breaths. I can't help but relax into her rhythm. It feels like time has stopped. My trance is broken only by the screeching whistle of the tea kettle as I jump with a gasp. Iev releases my hands, a soft smile graces her face.

'Excuse me,' I say looking away and feeling the warmth in my cheeks. As I reach for the kettle, my hands I realize are no longer cold. That was magical, I think to myself...and kinda mesmerizing?

I'm in awe with my thoughts as I fill the mugs in a daze.

So this was a much longer chapter with Iev spending an entire day with the cast and crew on the WE set. I've split it up into two chapters, focusing on developments of Dom and Iev's relationship. Do tell me if you think the chapters are reading too long. Thanks and please enjoy.
