Happily Ever After is So Cliche

"Don't you ever do that to us again you little shit!"  He snapped, patting my back hard before pulling away.  The next thing I knew I was enveloped in another hug, just as tight but for barely a second before I saw Kol pull away.

"I'm still pissed at you."  I nodded, knowing he should be. "And if you ever tell anyone I did that I'll deny it, until the day I die I'll deny it, but if you ever tell me that I don't love you again I'll stake you, I swear to God."  I looked to see Finn behind him who shrugged his shoulders.

"I'm not hugging you, and you have a hell of a lot to make up for but, I've always loved you.  Don't get that twisted."

"Never again brother."

"It's strange, but I don't hate it.  You're actually really pretty."  I turned to see my mate sitting around Elijah's shoulders and inspecting him as he, Kol and Rebekah inspected her, no longer poking at her face which I appreciated.

I saw Alice running down the hallway a moment later as well as the Hatter coming from a group of people who could only be his family. "Alice! Niklaus! Oh, you simply must come and meet my family! You're the one who saved them after all Alice and-" he cut himself off as he noticed her facing the mirror behind us. "Oh, but of course. You have your own family." She nodded. "Very important, a family. You only get the one."

"That's true...but sometimes you can expand it, make it that much better." I told him, seeing everyone I've met since I've come here, everyone I've grown to love as if they were my own family, and seeing my actual family beside them. My little kitten teasing and playing with Kol's still torn jacket from being in the coffin for so long, snuggled against my sister, Finn with a still uncomfortable look on his face and Mallyumpkin perched on his shoulder to his fascination, while an unexpected friend was snuggled in Elijah's arms. If you had ever told me my elder brother would find his mate in the White Queen I would have laughed in your face but it seemed he couldn't quite take his eyes off of her.

"Oh Hatter, Niklaus, I fear I may never see you again."

"Oh my dear Alice. In the garden of memory...in the palace of dreams, that is where we shall all meet."

"But a dream is not reality..."

"Who's to say which is which anymore? I sure as hell can't." I teased, getting a chuckle from my little blonde friend. I wrapped my arms around her for what I knew was most likely the last time.

"Okay...This is a very long hug...don't make me come over there!" Alice and I would both be liars if we said we could hold in our chuckle at my jealous little thing of a mate as we pulled away, the Hatter embracing her next.

"You did it Alice." Mallyumpkin spoke from my elder brothers shoulder as Alice was about to go. "An impossible thing."

"Not as impossible as saying goodbye to you my friends...Goodbye Hatter."

"Goodbye Alice." The look on his face was heartbreaking and I put my hand on his shoulder to comfort him before I was yanked into a bone breaking hug. "You're not leaving too..." everyone looked up at me and to my family as well, unsure for a moment it seemed, even my mate, even Elijah's who clung to him tightly for such a tiny lady. "...are you my friend?"

"Of course they're not!" The White Queen declared. "They will stay in the palace, after all we must help Niklaus' siblings become acquainted with the ways of our people. That is, if they want to stay."

"Oh fuck yes, I'm staying! There's a rabbit in a waistcoat and a talking dog here!" Kol exclaimed.

"I quite like it as well, I'm...intrigued." Finn spoke, about to pet Mallyumpkin's head.
