“I would help too but there’s this girl who asked me to help her with math” and as Joe said that Matthew started laughing and the siblings looked at him not realising what was so funny “Oh, c’mon, we are on vacations, she’s tryin’ to flirt with you mate, you do know that don’t you?” he said and laughed again “We’re here” he said as the approached his house. Joe said his goodbyes and before they walked inside Matthew told her the house was really a big mess “Are you helping me like that… princess” he mocked and it was easy to know he was referring to her dress and high heels “Look… love” she mocked as well “I’ve literally ran a mile with these on, and I could do two front flips with this beautiful, wonderful dress on without you seeing anything besides what you’re seeing right now so shut up and open the door”. And with that she took the lead and walked inside the house

Looking around she noticed how messy the house actually looked, the ground was covered with broken pieces of almost everything and there were white-reddish towels on top of closets and even on the sofa. “I see you have been going to hard times” she said as she picked up all the towels “Where is the washing machine?” Stella asked and the boy, who was picking up some garbage off the ground “there” he pointed to a room that she soon realised was the laundry room, and that one had been untouched, looked clean and new, way different from the rest of the house.

It was 5:30 and after cleaning every bit and even after using the vacuum cleaner, something that apparently Matthew had no idea he had, the living room, bathroom and even the kitchen smelled and looked new. “We’re missing the bedrooms” she said smiling, mostly because she was proud of herself, she hadn’t cleaned anything in a few years.

He did not smile though “I can take care of that, princess” he mocked again. “We don’t have much longer, I’ll help you” she said, the way she did it sounded like a naïve girl, but she knew, she knew he actually needed help and support, and she wouldn’t leave. Once again she took the lead and opened one of the three doors that were missing. Just like the laundry room this room was clean and barely seemed to fit the old classic house. Matthew quickly pulled the door knob, where Stella’s hand was already. And that would have certainly lead to some awkward moment and some sassy answer from either of them, but Matthew’s face was pale, and he walked away “Hey Matthew, I’m sorry” she said low, quite embarrassed she was the one who had created the situation. Matt showed up with a glass of water in his hands and nodded as if she didn’t have to apologize. “Get ready to see the biggest mess” he said as he opened his bedroom door, and he was right, that didn’t even seem like a bedroom at all.

Stella left Matthew’s house at seven to get dressed, he offered her a ride home as to thank her for helping him, she didn’t accept it “This princess can walk” she said in her usual sassy tone. He ended up pulling her into a hug before she left “Thank you” he said, and she could feel he was being honest.

When the bell rang at first Matthew was still getting ready, he opened the door only a few seconds later with a plain oxford shirt and some black jeans, which wasn’t very usual of him.

Stella walked in like she had been waiting for hours “Guess you are the princess Matt, damn why did it took you so long?”. He laughed as he greeted her brother at the door “I took like 5 seconds, I was getting ready” and only after he looked properly at her, and he had to be honest, she looked absolutely flawless.

The blue sleeved dress she was wearing did not only look amazing on her, but it also worked as a contrast between her pale skin and red hair. She had her hair over one shoulder, curled, as usual. And her eyes were shinning, and in that moment it seemed like she had lighten up the whole room.

Soon Nate and Christie arrived with pizza’s and they all started eating “You two did a brilliant job here, I have to say” Nathaniel said looking around while eating “This was the biggest chaos I’d ever seen, and now it actually looks like a proper house” he said and they all laughed.

They left home only to head straight to the disco, agreeing that it would be better to take a cab – or two, the girls pointed out – and after waiting outside for it, they talked and laughed just like normal young adults, like people who were truly happy. And anyone who saw them would think that life was easy, but any of them knew, knew that it was not.
