A Night Before The Storm

Bondita said all this looking directly into Maitrali's eyes to which Maitrali glared her and gritted her teeth. But Anirudh was looking at her with a small smile and tearful eyes. He looked down and turned to wipe away hi tears. He looked up and closed his eyes as some tears fell down his cheeks. After his Mother, his Vanshika left, he felt as if he had no one who would stand for him, support him. Though he had a big family, who loved him and he loved them, yet he felt alone. But today for the first time, he felt someone would be there for him, when he would feel less of him. He would have someone who would take care of him, support him when he is broken. He really felt someone would be there for him.

" Chalo maan liya, tumhari izzat tumhare pehle pati Dhruv ne ki, aur abhi Anirudh ne ki. Lekin iska yeh matlab toh nahi hai na ki har koi karega. You..remember Robert right? Don't you remember what he did to you?" Maitrali scoffed and smirked and asked Bondita.

The mention Robert's name brought back the memories of those dreadful night. She clenched her saree in a fist and gulped a lump. Anirudh turned as soon as he heard that monster's name. He before could say anything to Maitrali, saw Bondita going backwards and then in a second upstairs to his room.

" Bondita..Shit." Anirudh said and was about to run behind her when Maitrali held his hand and said " Why do you care Anirudh? You don't even consider as your wife." Anirudh looked at her and jerked of her hand. He ran and started climbing the stairs when Maitrali again stood in front of him. Frustrated he shouted at her to which Maitrali said " Tum uske peeche kyun lage ho Anirudh? Neither you two share a bedroom nor you two consider eachother as your husband and wife. And what did she call you, some Pati Babu. I mean she is a grown up woman, a barrister but she doesn't even know what to call you. What nonsense..!"

Anirudh grabbed Maitrali by her shoulders and pushing her to the railing, he said gritting his teeth"Woh mujhe kuch bhi bulaye yaa na bulaye, it's none of your concern. Jab mujhe koi problem nahi hai, toh duniya waalon ko bhi nahi honi chahiye. And for your information, hum ek dusre ko Pati Patni maane yaa naa maane, ek kamre mein rahe ya naa rahe, It's none of your concern Maitrali. None of yours or societies concern. Leave us alone. Woh meri bachi ki Maa hai. She is my wife and I am her husband, hum kuch bhi karein yaa naa karein, it's none of your concern."

" Woh Anika ki Sauteli.." Before she could complete Anirudh spoke " Ek Maa sauteli ya sagi nahi, ek maa Maa hoti hai. Aur mere saamne yeh saga sautela ka Jaap mat karna, because I hate it." He left her shoulders and ran upstairs to his room. Maitrali took a deep breath and touched her shoulders which were paining by now. Her eyes turned red and gritting her teeth she whispered Bondita's name and went to the room which was provided to her and her mother.

Anirudh entered the room and slowly called out Bondita's name. The room was empty. Everything was neat. He saw a open window. Remembering her pain and when she had attempted to suicide, he ran towards it. Looking down, he didn't see anything. Taking a deep breath and calming himself down, he turned around. He heard washrooms door opening and saw Bondita. He rushed to her and asked " Theek ho na tum?"

Bondita nodded to which Anirudh frowned and asked "Agar theek ho, toh aise bhaag ke kyun aayi? Pareshaan kar diya mujhe."

Both looked at eachother while Anirudh said "Ab bolo bhi.". Bondita looked down and said "Woh..woh..". Anirudh face again showed with concern and he asked softly "Haa..bolo."

" Woh..Mujhe aapko pareshaan karne mein bada maza aata hai. Hihi." Bondita said and laughed looking at his frustrated face. Anirudh before he could shout at her, she ran away to the dressing table. Anirudh fisted his fingers and looking at her giggling face, he showed his tounge and went to freshen up.

After a while

As Anirudh came after freshening up, he saw Bondita standing near the window looking at sky. He thought of a mischief and smiling widely he kept the wet towel again on the bed and stood behind her and whispered in her ears"Kya dekh rahi ho?".

His husky voice sacred her and jumped at her place. She looked behind and keeping hand on her chest she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Anirudh laughed seeing her and leaning on the window frame, looked at her.
Bondita glared him and did movements with her hands that she will kill him, to which Anirudh became serious. Both looked at eachother. The moonlight fell on them, making their face shine. Their hairs fluttered as well. At first the smiled and laughed aloud.

Yeh raatein yeh mausam
Yeh nadi ka kinara
Yeh chanchal hawa

" Pati Babu.." Bondita was about to say something when Anirudh said "Bondita yeh Pati Babu..". Bondita showed her hand and said dramatically " Kaka sasoor ji ka aadesh hai. Unhone hi kaha tha, Bondita Bahu, Sab patniyan apne Pati ko kuch ho na kuch bulati hai. Jaise ki ae ji, oo ji. Mein tark karne gayi, toh Anika ki kasam dila ke chup kara diya. Ab meine kasam toh tod nahi sakti, toh meine socha ae ji oo ji kitna bleh lagta hai sunne mein, bleh lagta hai."

Anirudh who was intently listening to her, chuckled and asked between laughing " Kya lagta hai?". Bondita giggled and said " Bleh."
Anirudh holding his stomach laughed and looking at him Bondita laughed.

Kaha do dilon ne
Ki Milkar kabhi hum
Naa honge judaa

Calming himself down Anirudh pulled her cheeks and said " You are cute..". Bondita blushed and looked down while Anirudh looked at the starry sky.

Bondita wished him a good night and lied on the bed. Anirudh wished back without turning or moving his eyes from the sky. After a while he turned and saw Bondita was shivering in her sleep. He closed the window and covered her with duvet. "Pagal khudka khayal nahi rakh sakti." He smiled and lied beside her. Bondita turned in her sleep and kept her hand and leg on him, making him frown. He was about to wake her up, but seeing sleeping deeply, he didn't wake her up and slept like that only.
