Best Friends for a reason

"Josh, I'll call you later... I need some time to myself."

"Noo... You are not gonna hang up on me Katherine... talk to me."

"I can't."

"No, you're not gonna hang up... I am right here and I want you to talk to me instead of going to your room and bawling your eyes out or overthinking about this."

"Why didn't you tell me if you knew?" she asked her voice cracking.

"Because I had promised Drake that I won't tell you unless he does."

"I trusted him Josh... he knows me way better than my parents knew me and still he does the things that he knows would hurt me the most... why should I give him a chance?"

"Because he is your best friend... he was there with you when you were at your worst and so were you. I know you both well enough to tell you that he would not stop blaming himself and thinking of ways to apologize to you and that you would not make it long without him talking to you. You are best friends for a reason Kate... you are supposed to hold each other when you cry, you are supposed to forgive each other for your mistakes and you are supposed to help each other on the right track if you get away. I can tell you this because I lost my best friend once and without him, I was not able to hold myself back from jumping off that cliff... I know that if he would have been there with me, he would have tied me up in my room and locked the door with god knows how many locks..."

"This is different Josh... he knew what he was doing when he did it... he knew I'd get hurt and he still chose to do it... that isn't something a best friend does. All I ever did was trust him with everything I had and what I get in return is hurt??"

"He didn't mean to hurt you babe, he needed to do it for the reasons unknown to me... if you give him a chance, you'll get answers to all your whys."

"I don't know... I need some time away from him to think."

"At least let him know you are fine... it's killing him not knowing about your whereabouts."

"Let him die then."

"Katherine... never say that again. I know you are hurting but calm the fuck down."

"Why are you only lecturing me? I am quite sure you didn't lecture that asshole."

"That's because it's you who ran away, not him. It's you who needs me, not him and it's you I wanna make feel better not him, other than the fact that I didn't let him hang up until he gave me Drake vibes."

"You Josh... have a way with words. I wish I could hug you right now."

"Someone seems to miss me!"

"When did I ever say that I didn't?"

"You also never said you did."

"That's because I didn't want to spoil your time with your family."

"Do you want me to come back and give you a hug?"

"Noo, I'm good."

"That's not what you said a second ago."

"I don't need you to come back just for giving me a hug."

"What else do you need me for?"

"To kick your stupid ass maybe?"

"Just accept the fact that you miss me beyond your love for coffee and that you want me to come back."

"Okay... let me make this clear first... there is no way I'd love anyone more than my coffee or food. And you don't need to come back just because I need a hug."
