"Oh yeah, what is she then?" I asked.
He didn't answer me, instead just looked at me blankly.
"That's what I thought."
I let go of his neck and sat down in front of Brooklyn. I searched through my bag to find the ointment that I always carried with me for this type of situation.
"Close your eyes." I tell her.
She closed her eyes and I rubbed some of the ointment on the bruises.
Once I was done she opened her eyes and looked at me.
"Thank you." She says softly.
I sighed.
"Your welcome." I say.
I stood up and turned around to begin to leave but Brooklyn called out for me.
"Wait!" Brooklyn called out.
I turned around to face her.
"Can we be friends." She asks fiddling her fingers.
I smiled slightly.
"Sure." I say.
"Come on." I tell her.
Brooklyn looked at me then at the boys then back at me. She grabbed her bag and stood up walking over to me.
We walk back inside the school, I made sure to steer clear of Emily. Not only for Brooklyn but for myself as well.
If I saw her she would end up in the fucking hospital.
It was now lunch time, and I figured Brooklyn was hungry.
"Hey, wanna go somewhere with me?" I asked her.
She looked at me like I had lost my mind. I only smiled at her.
"I mean for lunch." I tell her.
"Oh, uh sure." She says.
She follows me out the door and we walk over to my motorcycle and hop on it.
"I love riding on these things." She says.
"Do you own one?" I asked her.
"No, my parents won't let me but my brother has one." She says.
"Who's your brother?" I asked her.
"Hunter." She says.
My mind went blank, what? How come I've never seen them together. Why does he let Emily torture her.
"How come he doesn't interfere when Emily is bullying you?" I asked her curiously.
"Well, nobody knows that we are siblings. He says he wants to keep it that way." She tells me.
What a dick.
I turned on my bike and Brooklyn gripped onto my stomach. I drove away from the school and towards the ocean cafe.
As soon as we got there we walked inside and went towards an empty booth.
Julia looked over at me and smiled, though I could see the shock in her face. This was the first time I came here with somebody.
I always ended up coming here alone.
Julia grabs her little note pad and walks over to us and smiled at Brooklyn.
"Hey Bailey, who's this?" She asks me.
"This is Brooklyn, my friend." I smiled.
"I'm so glad you decided to bring a friend." She paused then looked at Brooklyn "I'm Julia nice to meet you." She smiled.
