"How are you so sure...?"

"Huh?"

Y/N looked at him, feeling guilt and anger well up within himself.

"How can anyone look at what I did and think it's okay...?! He's my little brother, damn it! I almost took his dream...! How can you stand there and say he doesn't hate me for what I did...?!"

"Y/N--"

"I haven't looked for him because I'm avoiding him. I'm the person he hates! I live like this to punish myself for what I did! What I did is unforgivable. The guilt I feel will never go away and I have to live with that...! You should know that already...!"

"..."

"So, you wanna know what he would say if he saw me like this? He'd look down at me with so much hatred in his eyes. And I don't blame him if he does. I gave up on being his older brother a long time ago. He can come up to me and say it. That he despises me so much."

"Stop talking like that, Y/N. He loves you, and you know it--"

"I thought you of all people would understand. I'm going back to practice some more."

F/N stood in his spot, eyes wide open as Y/N walked past him, going back to the vacant gym. He felt useless. His words weren't getting through to his friend. If he continued the way he did...the vicious would never end.

"Hey," a certain middle blocker said. "Have any of you seen Y/N?"

"No. Why?"

"Kuroo-san," one of Matsubara's third-year players said, "You've been hanging around the captain a lot more than usual, don't you think?"

"Have you two gotten even closer than before?"

"This is serious. It's been a long while since I've seen him and he's not where he usually is."

"Wasn't he with Yamaguchi just a little while ago, though?"

"F/N?"

"Yeah."

Before he could even ask about F/N's whereabouts, said male walked through the gym doors, looking pissed. They took notice of Y/N's absence and began to wonder where he'd gone.

"Those two aren't usually apart unless Y/N's got other stuff to do."

"You think they got in a fight or something?"

They continued to look on, watching as F/N went to go grab a volleyball. It seemed as though he was muttering to himself. F/N was a cheerful person, so to see him angry was a rare sight. They figured that whatever happened, it was bad. Still, Kuroo decided to walk over and ask. Once he reached him, he tapped his shoulder.

As soon as he turned around, Kuroo was met with a glare. But, when the setter noticed who it'd been, he bowed his head apologetically. "Sorry... Is there something you need?"

"Are you alright?"

F/N seemed hesitant to say anything, averting his gaze. "Yeah, I-- I'm good. Just need a minute to cool off. But, uh... if you're looking for Y/N... Maybe it's better if you don't bother him right now."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

--

It was already dark out. Kuroo had listened to F/N's advice to stay away, but he was beginning to worry. On his way back from the showers, he noticed how when one of the gyms still had its lights on. He peeked inside to see Y/N doing some pushups.

To Kuroo, it seemed that Y/N was just tired. But Y/N had other things on his mind. Ever since his fight with F/N, he couldn't keep the negativity away.

"Y/N, how could you?"
