What's going on?
Mitsuya didn't want to think for the worse but with the way things were going... were they finally over?
Was he the only one clinging desperately to their relationship?
Mitsuya didn't want to overthink but his mind kept replaying back to that time where they had that one, tense encounter with one another before Draken decided to have a temporary cool off between the two of them.
"Ken are you okay?" Mitsuya asked softly as he noticed the distressed expression on his face.
"I'm fine Taka." He replied in a clipped voice.
"But I know something is bothering—."
"I don't want to talk about it okay?" He cut him off in an agitated voice.
Mitsuya was stunned, blinking a few times at his outburst before his face morphed into a careful smile and calm expression on his face.
"Oh okay. Uh, I'm sorry about that—."
"Jesus Christ Taka. Can you please stop that? Stop hiding behind that expression—!"
Draken stopped midway and caught himself, turning away from him.
"I'm sorry Taka but can you please leave for now? Just... give me 2-3 days... I don't want to speak with anyone right now..." Draken's voice was uncharacteristically low and soft as if he was on the verge of falling apart.
Mitsuya swallowed thickly. "Okay, I understand..." He replied, trying not to break down in front of him as he left his place quietly.
A defeated sigh escaped from his lips as Mitsuya stopped his train of thoughts and reoriented himself back to the present. He ignored the pang and bitterness that was rising within his heart.
So, what if it's Valentine's Day and Draken was not here to share it with him?
He just needed to suck it up like he does, and the world won't stop spinning anyway just because of what he was feeling. There were other important things that he needed to focus more on. Like his upcoming exams next week for example.
Mitsuya struggled to focus on reading intently the words in his textbook even if he could feel his heart shattering and his spirit falling apart.
I said, "I know"
When you said, "I did you wrong, made mistakes
And put you through all of this" (through all of this)
Then through the phone
Came all your tears
And I said "Leave those all in our past"
And you said "When can I come back?"
His obsidian eyes stared right through the ceiling as he lied quietly on the bed.
Draken was exhausted.
Mikey was like a dear brother to him.
But sometimes he doesn't understand him even if he desperately wanted to.
...he knew that even if he was one of most mature friends of their group, he wasn't an emotionally adept person like Emma nor Shinichiro who seemed to have no trouble reading the emotional tunes of his unpredictable friend.
Sometimes he felt like a failure.
When he was desperately trying to grab Mikey's hands from sinking into a quicksand of despair and misery it seemed like he was getting further and further away from him.
