**Kuragari's POV**
**Sixteen Years Ago**
First thing I must tell you is that I am not the only one...
Demons exist all over this planet once the bridge between the light and the dark was broken down to dust nearly a million years ago.
At first it was just a hand full of different species but now there are so many different kinds of us that we had to cut them down into classes ranking from low class to high class. Or so to speak, the weak from the strong.
The weakest of us tend to get killed off the easiest by the humans and used as a basic meat substitute for the animals they use to call deer and cow's which went extinct years ago. Than the rank higher than them are usually the average savage demons called the wasted that aren't very smart and have a high kill instinct which does seem to apply to anything Demon or Human alike.
These ones can be dangerous for a number of reasons, the main one is that they are ridiculously large which is strange coming from me since I am one of the largest species of demons known to our kind...
Anyways, after that we have the ones that are still average but a bit more civilized. They are the ones that can choose to breed with other demons or volunteer to get devoured by a higher ranking demon as a gift of life.
Which that ceremony is very rare but not unknown. It's just that most of our base homes are dormant in the middle of mountains or deep valleys, so even if one was to happen in the next 10 human life times I doubt I would see it because I had chosen to leave my group long ago.
Which brings me to the two high ranking Demon clans, there are the Dawnlings which are the cross breeded children of my kind and the Average class demons. Who have control over the food (Humans) that is distributed to the lower class demons and the control over the hunting of the wasted. (The Average savage Demons that can no longer think rationally.)
Leaving only my race left which are called the Rowfligan, we are the closest demons to the darkness. Even our appearance is the scariest of them all which brings respect from the others.
The scarier you are the more my kind will listen to you and follow your orders...
Over the years I just got tired of going by the standards my brother has set for our species and all I wanted to do was hunt freely without having to think about breeding or killing entire cities and kingdoms of humans.
At that point the killing isn't even for food anymore it's just for fun and that is something I can't agree with. Humans hunt us because we eat them, humans massacre us because we massacre them.
If the free killing for joy continues to stay a tradition amongst my kind than a war really could start and when it does I won't be here to witness it. I don't want anything to do with my brothers foolishness.
With a shake of my large head I continued to make my way through the woods as twigs, branches and leaves all get crushed under my clawed feet.
The Rowfligan all look pretty similar besides minor differences that usually only a member of our own kind can pick up on.
Our bodies are somewhat similar to a humans basic skeleton wise for the torso but our ribs are caved in a bit more and our skin is black and leathery with small placements of feathers around the rib cage and lower torso. Along with small patches of shiny black scales around the feathers.
Than moving downwards, our legs have two joints in them instead of just one. We have thick thigh muscles and than thick calf muscles until it reaches the second joint were our deadly clawed feet and toes are. Most of the skin on our legs are covered in a fluff kind of jet black fur.
Making our way back up our shoulders and arms are wide which eventually end in our long taloned fingers. There's not really much special there but than again it allows us to open our meals fairly easily so that's a plus.
Last but not least our heads, we have rather long skeletons, our jaws and cheek bones are all skeleton until it slowly becomes that same leathery skin over bone until it wraps around our horns at either sides of our heads.
The horns and eyes are basically the main give away as to who is who in the Rowfligan clan. My brother has long horns that curl to the back of his head but mine actually do a nice natural bending outward motion almost like those of an extinct deer like I had mentioned earlier.
My eyes however, they are a bit different compared to the others. Usually a Rowfligan has more than 4 sets of eyes resting on top of each other on either sides of there faces or just one huge one in the middle but for me I only have 2 sets.
I have the normal placed ones almost like a human and than a smaller slanted set below them.
If you wanna ask favorite body part though, I would have to say my tongue. Just thinking about the way it allows me to wrap my meals in a bond they cant escape before eating them made me give a toothy grin to myself.
For a moment I had to stop thinking because I had thought I had lost my sent on my prey but when I turned my head to the left I was able to pick it up almost immediately. The trees around me were starting to get a bit thin compared to the rest of the forest so I slowly created a black cloak out of the energy of the darkness in the air around me.
As the energy formed into the thin layer of darkness around my body I began to slow my speed even more as I try my best to stay in the shadows without actually seeping into them.
I am currently tracking a human most likely in there mid 30's who has been traveling alone for the last 2 hours. There is a river up stream but it doesn't come down this way which explains why the human was gathering fish and some water before heading back to where it had come from.
It is the first human I have seen in 2 weeks so I am a bit curious where it came from so I can come back and eat another when I become hungry again. That is the only reason I have allowed it to live this long, staying close to a human village might be the best and worst thing I can do.
Never ending supply of food but if I ever get caught than they could always retaliate by getting more humans from other villages.
That is one thing about humans, they are really good at repopulating. Us demons may be bigger and more powerful but we have fewer numbers and sometimes a higher set of numbers is more dangerous than any predator.
Even if that predator is 8 to 9 feet tall...
A couple more steps through the thinning trees brought us to a field full of flowers that came all the way up to the grown humans waist. What bothered me is when the man started to smile at something moving around in the field through the flowers which I couldn't see yet.
The man just laughed and bent down before standing back up with an even younger human in his arms that couldn't be any older than 4 years.
Just at the sight of the younger one my mouth started to water knowing that children taste the best because there bones and muscles haven't been filled with toxins that adult humans get as they age.
It would be just like if a human ate a rib rack that fell off the bones, completely effortless...
Human: He spun the little boy around before setting him back down in the over grown wild flowers. "Hi little man, does your mother know you left the house already?"
