The Party Strategy

Start from the beginning

"Yes." Kyoya smiled, too. "It needed everyone's agreement, of course. But the consensus was reached without a problem."

Sweatdropping, Haruhi looked away. 'So these two are the real masterminds behind the operation...'

Smiling politely, Yukino set cold cups of fruit juice in front of each guest at Haruhi's table.

"Um, Haruhi?" Haruhi stopped watching Honey and Mori's antics to find Kimiko smiling at her. "Aren't you going to wear a tropical outfit like the other boys?"

Momoka nodded. "I'd like to see that!"

Being the only host still in her uniform, Haruhi sweatdropped a little. "Oh, well -- no, I-I just don't think it's appropriate to wear anything but early spring attire in early spring, you know?"

Tamaki popped up out of nowhere. Grinning excitedly, he gestured to the mannequin with the outfit matching his own. "But we have one ready for you, Haruhi! I think you'll like it; you and I are a pair!"

"No thanks." She shot him down bluntly. "Anyways, don't you think that if anyone were to match with you, it should be Yukino?"

As if he had just been shot, Tamaki flinched visibly. Then he proceeded to curl up and sulk in front of some nearby bushes.

Haruhi sweatdropped. "Did I miss something...?"

Yukino watched her cousin with bored green eyes. "I told him I'd let a snake bite me before I ever wore that thing."

"Ah."

She turned to walk away from the table. On the way, she grabbed the back of Tamaki's shirt; she dragged him across the floor, all the way to his own table.

"Enough sulking," She said. "You have customers to entertain, remember?"

Within seconds, he was back to his regular, charming self. Returning to his guests, he proceeded to act as if nothing even happened. Rolling her eyes with a sigh, Yukino went back to the bar. It was then that she noticed a familiar second-year approaching Haruhi's table.

Smiling gently, Kasugazaki tilted Haruhi's chin up. Yukino blinked.

Despite not even wanting to go to the party, Yukino had taken on the planning. Everyone knew that Yukino Suoh was the embodiment of perfectionism, so having her in charge of planning was the best choice for everyone involved. It certainly couldn't be left to the incompetent morons in this club.

Honey was busy eating cake, the twins wouldn't stop begging Yukino to let them choose what she wore to the dance, and Haruhi was neither interested nor knowledgeable enough when it came to planning events. They were at least lucky to have Mori's help, and Kyoya was handling everything related to money.

Then there was Tamaki, the most useless of them all. His loud, obnoxious slurps were filling the clubroom; if he didn't stop soon, Yukino wouldn't be able to stop herself from snatching his bowl of ramen to dump it on his head. She would never say it aloud, but she preferred his silent sulking over this any day.

"Hey, boss," Hikaru called over to him. "Why don't you stop eating that commoner's ramen and come over here to help us with the party planning?"

"Does it really bother you that Princess Kasuga has taken a liking to Haruhi?" Kaoru asked.

Yukino didn't look up from her notebook. "I don't understand why you're so shocked. We've known about her disease for a while now; it was only a matter of time before Haruhi was roped in."
