The silence befell on us again. We finished our meals and the check came and she insisted she paid it. After all, she did invite me out for lunch. Not like I had $260 on me anyways. I can't believe that it was that much. What did we eat? Diamonds or something?

"Come," she said, standing up and grabbing her things. "I'm taking you shopping. My son is going to make everything up to you tonight."

I frowned but followed nevertheless. Make it up to me? Why and how?

Nicolas' pov:

I just finished making reservations for dinner tonight. I bought the entire rooftop for ourselves. I want this to be special, with no interruptions. I want to tell her how I feel. But I'm nervous.

I'm nervous she may reject me. I'm nervous she won't feel the same way, or she feel differently. I've never been so nervous throughout my entire life.

I was putting on my favorite black suit when I heard Bruno whistling down the hall. I heard his footsteps stop just outside my door, which was open.

"Well, don't you look fancy." He smiled, leaning up against the door frame. "Whats the occasion?"

I smiled buttoning up my shirt, looking at him through the mirror. "Taking Winter out to dinner. She's been locked up to long." I explained.

"Hmm, good man." His natural smile faded na di knew something was up. "Have to talk to about something serious man."

"Whats up?"

"Lucien contacted me."

That was all he needed me to say to grab my attention. I turned around so fast, I probably would have whiplash. "What?! Why?"

"My loyalty is to you Nic. You're more than my boss. You are my brother. My loyalty will never falter." He said, walking closer to me with cautious.

I let out a sigh of relief. Know that my brother will stand by me through anything. "So that's what that jerk wanted. To get my brother, my closet man on his side."

Bruno nodded his head. "I don't feel safe leaving my family at my home. He knows where we live and what we do every morning. It's creepy man."

My lips twitched. "There's a place for you and your family to live, Bruno. Move in tonight if you can."

His shoulders relaxed and he let out a sigh of relief. I half expected him to argue with me but, he knows better.

"Thank you, Nic. Thanks so much." I never saw tears on this man until now. Not until he hugged me tightly. He was afraid. No doubt for his family, especially his baby.

"Of course man. We'll kill him soon. I think I found a way to get him."

We released each other and Bruno looked at me eagerly. "How?"

"I need bait. I'm just trying to figure what or who to use as bait."

"Use me." He said, after a monet of silence.

"What? No. After what happened last time?" I didn't want to even come close to losing him again.

"Well, do you have a better suggestion? He's waiting for my answer. He said to meet in person if I agreed. Dude... it's perfect. We just need to prepare for any and all possible outcomes."

He was right. I don't have anything better than that. His plan is actually quite perfect. "We'll discuss more tomorrow morning. Get the others and have an emergency meeting in the basement."

"Yes boss." He said, taking his phone out and leaving. But not before looking back at me with a smirk. "Have fun tonight." He winked and left.

I laughed knowing that he hoped I got lucky tonight. He is the best brother, friend, confidant and wingman, any man could ever need.
