She turned Halwyn's head back and it cracked again.

"Oh God. Stop doing that." I made a face of disgust.

"How did it work last time?" Malia asked.

"Last time, I was unconscious." She replied and I shrugged.

"We can work with that." I looked around the room.

[...]

Malia banged the hammer on the table and smiled.

"See? It will be quick."

I sighed and put my hand on my face.

"Malia, put the hammer down, please." I spoke and she pouted and left it on the table.

"You want me to knock her out, right?" Malia asked.

"Render unconscious. Preferably without pain." Lydia answered.

Lydia looked at Halwyn and sighed.

"Okay, I have an idea." I spoke and they looked at me. "I'll put you to sleep with my powers." I suggested and Lydia raised her eyebrows.

"You've done it before?" She asked.

"One time. With Jackson." I answered and she pursed her lips.

"Okay. Do it." Malia agreed.

I walked closer to Lydia and took a deep breath, closing my eyes and then opening them to make them glow. I put my hands beside Lydia's head. I saw the black mass of power come out of my hands and lowered them scared.

"Do it." Lydia l insisted.

"I'm scared." I admitted.

"I trust you."

I took a deep breath and positioned my hands again. I moved my fingers and the dark power came out of them. The dark mass entered Lydia's ear and her eyes turned black for a moment.

Her eyes widened. She gasped and fainted but I caught her.

"It worked." Malia ran over to help me lay Lydia down.

[...]

Lydia gasped waking up and I held her by her shoulders trying to calm her down.

"He's not dead." She spoke breathing heavily. "Halwyn's not dead."

"What?"

"And I know how to save him."

[...]

We were pushing a stretcher with Halwyn's body in it. We were dressed as nurses.

We walked in the MRI room. We took off our masks and sighed relieved.

"Step one, complete." Lydia spoke.

"Now how do we turn this thing on?" I asked looking at the machine.

Lydia showed us her phone.

MRI TECHNICAL OPERATION MANUAL

"We read the manual."

[...]

Lydia clicked some keys and buttons while Malia and I just observed.

The machine hummed and began to move. Halwyn's body went in it.

"Look." Lydia pointed at the screen and clicked some keys. "See that image artifacting? That means the bullet is ferromagnetic, probably steel. It'll react in the MRI. We'll increase the magnet's power and the machine will pull the bullet right out." She explained. "Ready? It could get messy."
