Well, that did it. Tears began to fall from Liam's eyes, he didn't even bother wiping them away.
"Liam? Are you still there?"
"Yes." Liam croaked out.
"Baby I'm so sorry, I should've been there for you. Please let me make it up to you."
Liam was so distraught, that he didn't hear the door opening, or Theo entering their room. Only once he felt arms wrap around him from the back, did he finally take notice of Theo.
"Uh, okay. I'm gonna go, I still feel sick."
"Okay, stay safe. And again, I'm so sorry, Liam."
He hung up, no longer holding back his sobs, he wanted to seem strong during the phone call. But really, he felt weak, so, so weak.
"Theo..." Liam whimpered turning around in Theo's embrace to face him.
"You don't have to tell me." Theo whispered, planting a kiss on Liam's head.
Instead of replying, Liam just buried his head deeper into Theo's chest, wishing things weren't so complicated.
****
Things have seemed tense for the past couple of days, Theo's took notice of that. Liam most of the time seems to be in a world of his own, staring off into space.
It's getting dangerous, too.
Yesterday, Theo came home from work to Liam attempting to cook, but he wasn't cooking, he was staring at the pan, the heat too high, and when Theo looked over at what Liam was doing, the food - possibly bacon, Theo's not too sure - was black.
Liam has also been rejecting Theo's hugs one minute, then throwing himself into Theo's arms as though he hasn't seen him in years the next. It's all confusing, and Theo's pretty damn sure it has something to do with that phone call.
"I'm having lunch with my mom later." Liam broke the silence.
Theo looked up from his coffee, staring at Liam. What?
"Liam, are you sure?" Theo asked.
This was worrying Theo. Liam believes that he didn't hear Liam crying in the bathroom, a few weeks ago, but he did and he damn well knows that was because of his parents. Theo felt guilty for not comforting Liam at that time, but sometimes it's just better to cry it out. And what help would Theo be? His parents have been dead for years.
"No, which is why you're coming with me." Liam said, slightly dazed.
Well no shit. Theo would be going whether Liam said he could or couldn't.
"Are you sure you're fine meeting her?"
Liam let out a strained laugh "You already asked that."
"Yeah, I did." Theo chuckled, taking a sip of his coffee "Where are you meeting her?"
"We. We're meeting her. And at Beacon Hills café. I didn't tell her you worked there, though."
Theo nodded "If she says anything to you, I know a couple holes we can bury her in." he wasn't serious, not completely anyway.
"Be nice." Liam said, poking Theo on the shoulder.
"No promises." Theo spoke lowly.
He caught Liam's little shiver. Cute.
Its slightly funny when you think about it. Liam seems to always be the slightly awkward one, can't even say the word sex, and Theo would quite happily run through Beacon Hills naked, if the sheriff's station didn't exist.
