And he's going to do anything to find out what it is. No matter what it costs.

•• • ••

The sunny and chill afternoon rises over the city of the vampires, the orange horizon reflecting everywhere. No one can be found walking outside, not a single one.

Besides Lisa, who's currently standing by the fountain not far from the crypt. She wears a simple white shirt with a military coat that she got from a fellow soldier she once helped as a gift, tight black jeans and casual sneakers. She has her long blonde hair down with her bangs parted beautifully.

Luckily for her, the injuries she got from Taemin is already healing.

That son of a bitch.

But she needed to put small plasters covering the scratches she got from last night's incident.

It was crazy, though she knows the queen wasn't going to die in the first place, she still tried to provoke the vampires for fun.

She likes making her enemies lose their minds.

But she gotta admit, Jennie killing the vampires she has turned in front of her eyes, she wondered what pushed her to the extent that she would personally cut their throats like it's nothing.

Even if she tries, she wouldn't guessed it. That woman has a brain of an out of this world creature, unpredictable at any level.

Fragile.

But unpredictable.

"I'm surprised you're still here,"

Lisa was surprised with the cool and chill voice coming from behind her.

"I would have already escaped, after what happened last night," the figure finally shows to her peripheral vision, Vernon.

She didn't dare looking at him, "I've seen worse, trust me," she says and chuckles, "Wait, I'm sorry but why are you talking to me? I mean nobody does, besides that talkative guy I met on the first day, what's his name again, Jay?"

Vernon shrugs, "Maybe because I'm not like them," he replies with pursed lips and earned a confused look on her face, "Don't get the wrong ideas, I have a girlfriend."

"No, don't worry,"

I don't swing that way.

She suddenly remembers the words that Taemin has told her that day when she sees Vernon leaving Jennie's room.

"Is it the queen?"

The hybrid narrows his eyes, "What do you mean?" he asks.

"Is she the girlfriend you're talking about?"

Vernon then laughs, surprising Lisa in a way she feels insulted. "That's funny," he mumbles and shakes his head, "No, my girlfriend is a human, she lives not far from your territory,"

Lisa let him continues.

"With the queen, I'm just her 'dog' as she kept insisting, she has no interests in me, we both know why." he explains.

Lisa slightly tilts her head.

"She treats men as her servants, toys to play," he replies, "But you, she took you in for a reason, not just because of the agreement you both had."

"What?"

He shakes his head, "No, forget what I said, I'll see you around," he gives her a small smile before slowly walking back inside the castle. Lisa could only watch him retreats with so many questions flooding her head.
