Annika felt tears trickling down her face. She wiped them quickly and went up to the terrace to be alone for some time.
She sat there in a corner and thought about Shivaay's behavior over the last few days. He had been texting a lot, she had spotted him twice with Tia at the same restaurant within the same week and he never mentioned meeting her even though they always discussed their days
A(in her mind): Does Shivaay have feelings for Tia? They must have resolved whatever issue caused their breakup. I promised Shivaay I would step away if he liked someone and now it's time for me to fulfill that promise. Shivaay is so nice, he deserves to be with the person he likes. Thankfully I hadn't told him about my feelings yet, he would have felt pity for me. But now we can part and he can be with Tia. She's an equal partner for him in every aspect, socially, and financially. She's beautiful and educated and rich and sophisticated. I'm the one standing in their way. I'll talk to Shivaay when he's ready and we can come up with some plan to tell the family.
Annika spent a long time convincing herself that she would leave Shivaay so he could be with Tia. But her heart ached for him. She wept and wept for a future that she had imagined in her head but one that would never be true. Without realizing she had started having expectations from this marriage. She had started having hope for their relationship and that was a cause of great pain for her. When she got tired, she went to their room and slept without saying anything.
She canceled the reservation she had made for their date
She acted normal the next couple of days, never letting Shivaay know that she knew. She was waiting for him to tell her himself. And often at night, Shivaay got a call that he attended outside.

A few days later
Sahil: SSO, I've got full marks in my math exam and you promised me if I got full marks we'll hang out, just the two of us
S: yes champ, tell me what you want to do
Sahil: you have to make pizza for me and then we'll play monopoly and we'll watch F1 racing, okay?
S: Done, we'll do all of this tonight
Sahil: be back in time from your meeting
S: yes sir
Shivaay left for the office after saying bye to everyone and Sahil was super excited about their boys date.
In the evening Sahil prepared everything, he cleaned the mess in his room and placed the monopoly game set on his desk. He queued the movie on the TV and he even got Annika to prepare the toppings he wanted for his pizza so that when Shivaay returned he could quickly make the pizza for them.
Time passed
7 pm
8 pm
9 pm
A: Sahil, Shivaay must be stuck in some work, please eat something. You can have pizza tomorrow with him. He'll also be tired when he comes back
Sahil: no, he promised and he doesn't break his promise. I'll wait, he'll be here soon
10 pm
A: Sahil, it's 10 now, please eat. Your stomach will hurt
Sahil: No didi I'll eat with SSO
11 pm
A: Sahil, at least have milk now. It's too late to have pizza and Shivaay will also be very tired now.
Sahil: I'm not hungry didi, I'm going to bed
A: but how will you sleep on an empty stomach? Just have this glass of milk
Sahil: I'm fine didi, I'm feeling sleepy. Good night
Sahil hadn't eaten so Annika also didn't eat. She waited for her brother to agree and listen to her but the poor boy got so sad that he went to bed without having dinner
Shivaay entered the house at 1 am. He went to his room
S: hey
A: what time is it?
She said sarcastically. Shivaay could clearly see her fuming with anger.
A: Shivaay, you promised Sahil you would spend time with him. If you were stuck in some work couldn't you call? Or drop a message? You didn't reply to any of my messages as well. My brother has gone to bed hungry tonight! He waited for you all night, I tried to convince him to eat but he kept waiting for you. This is not done Shivaay
S: Annika I...
A: Save it
Saying that she exited the room and went to sleep in Sahil's room. Shivaay sat on the bed with a thump and held his head in his hands.
The next morning, Shivaay went to Sahil's room while Annika was packing his lunch
S: Sahil
He didn't respond. Shivaay sat down and held his ears
S: I'm very sorry Sahil, I got stuck somewhere. I wanted to come but I couldn't. I'm so sorry you had to wait so much and sleep like that. I swear it will never happen again and I'll make it up to you. Please forgive me
Shivaay had tears in his eyes, he felt so guilty for hurting this innocent little boy. Sahil wiped his tear
Sahil: It's okay SSO, I forgive you but don't do this again
S: I promise and this weekend I'll make all your favorite dishes and we'll play and we'll watch 2 movies. Pinkie promise
Sahil: okay, pinkie promise. Now let me go, I'll be late for school
S: bye
