"Hey, Hermione, you're a girl."
Hermione and Vulpecula's faces grew dumbfounded and they stared at Ron, processing his words.
"Oh well spotted." Hermione retorted, Vulpecula chuckled.
"Well, do you want to go? Since you haven't got anyone either?" Vulpecula's jaw dropped at Ron's words.
"I'll have you know that somebody's already asked me," She stood up and took her notebook to Snape who stood at the end of the hall, when she came back she grabbed the large textbook on the table "and i said yes!" she spat and walked out of the hall.
Vulpecula smiled at her friend, she knew of Hermione's date to the Yule Ball. Ron looked at Vulpecula with a questioning look, but was defeated when Vulpecula shook her head and brought her finger and thumb across her mouth, in a gesture of zipping it shut.
Behind her was more talk of the ball. A Ravenclaw girl had risen from her spot at the table by the Great Hall's wall and made her way slowly over to the Slytherin table. Theodore had his eyes on his work as his hand moved delicately as he wrote.
The girl stood next to where Theodore sat, he felt her standing there but did not acknowledge the girl. Blaise had seen her and was looking between her and his friend with an amused smile on his face. Ron and Harry had seen her stood there and Vulpecula noticed them watching something over her head. Her curiosity got the best of her and she turned around.
She saw the Ravenclaw girl stood by Theodore, staring at him with hopeful eyes. Blaise turned around to get Vulpecula's attention but saw that she was already watching, the two exchanged amused smiles.
"You're hovering." Theodore spoke, his deep voice was casual as he kept his eyes on his work.
The girl grew red in an instant, Vulpecula felt slightly sorry for the girl; she was clearly nervous but part of her wanted to watch the scene in front of her unfold.
"Oh, I- I uhm" The girl took a breath and looked over at everyone watching her, Vulpecula gave her a small encouraging smile when they made eye contact. "I was wondering, you know the balls coming up and-"
"No." Theodore cut her babbling off.
Vulpecula's face grew extremely sympathetic, the poor girl didn't even get a chance to ask her question before being rejected. She didn't saw another word but ran from the hall, sobs escaping her mouth.
Theodore finally looked up and locked eyes with Vulpecula who's face was still filled with sympathy but now also disapproval. He pinched his eyebrows together quickly but Vulpecula simply shook her head and tapped Blaise's shoulder. The boy turned around and lent over to his friend.
"Have you asked Pansy yet?"
"Shh," Blaise hushed Vulpecula, she thought her words were of an acceptable volume level but apparently not. "But no, not yet."
"Hurry up, dude, she's gorgeous and seems really nice, you wanna hope she's not got someone already."
Blaise's face fell in fear. He stood up and without haste left the hall in search of pansy. Vulpecula chuckled and shook her head with a large smile on her face.
Theodore watched her turn back around and close her books, he stared as she got up and walked to Snape, handing him her book and walking back to her seat. She stood by the table and gathered her quill and spare parchment putting them into her bag.
Theo noticed how when she put her bag over her shoulder it brought the hem of her skirt up the slightest amount, revealing just a small slither of skin above her thigh high socks. He snapped his head back to his work quickly and heard her footsteps receding.
