He turned even redder. "If I had known you were coming with Purpled, I would've at least tried to clean myself up a little," he complained, "I swear I'm not always this messy!"
"Yes he is," Purpled piped up, snickering. Sam shot him a glare.
"You know Purpled?" I asked. They both nodded, and Sam started walking off to the large shelves, gesturing for us to follow him.
" 'Course I do. He's a regular here, always ordering the most weird custom stuff. He once ordered a duper-mega-water-spray-gun that can shoot 15 meters, jumbo sized, and said 'oh, and can you make it specifically so that it hits little kids?' "
I deadpanned at Purpled when I heard this, and he guiltily shrunk back with a awkward toothy smile on his face.
Sam plopped the boxes on a empty shelf, dusting off his hands. I settled the rest on the shelf too.
"Anyways, it's nice to see you again after so long," he said brightly, raising his hand to shake. I recoiled a little at the green slime dripping and oozing down it. He retracted it quickly. "Oh yeah- forgot about that."
"Can you tell me why you're covered in slime?" I smiled a little in amusement
He turned beet red again in embarrassment. "Failed experiment. I was trying to conduct a machine that could mine for you, and the slime would latch onto the stone and move it. Unfortunately, the fire overheated the slime and it bursted, resulting in.. well, this."
He pointed at his slimy clothes. I laughed a little while Purpled cackled, and we followed Sam back. "I'll go change into my spare clothes. Tell me what you need," he said, walking into the employee room.
Purpled answered. "We need a utility belt that's useful for holding splash potions, and lots of them. Maybe even a pouch, or pockets-"
"I don't think I want a million pockets on my uniform filled with potions-"
"-or a bag or something!"
"Gotcha!" Sam exited, having changed quickly. He moved under the counter, grabbed a sheet of blueprints and scattered them on the table. "Choose which one looks most appealing to you."
I didn't even get to choose- Purpled fished one up seemingly at random and gave it to Sam. "This one, please!"
"Did you even look, kiddo?" Sam raised a brow, taking the print in his hands.
"Duh! I have a keen eye," he answered back. It didn't sound very convincing, and we both looked at him, umimpressed.
Sam showed the print to me, and I observed it. I nodded. "It's a good design. Can you also make these?" I asked, picking up another blue print. They were also potion holders, but smaller and made to be wrapped around my thighs.
"Ah, smart choice! No problemo- I'll get this done by the evening. That'd be 20 coins."
I was about to pay, but Purpled stopped me.
"Allow me to be, the gentleman," he said, jokingly bowing whilst saying it in a funny accent.
I laughed a little and let him pay. Sam thanked the both of us, and was about to walk into the employee room to start before I called out to him.
"Don't get into a mess when we come back!"
"I won't, don't worry!" he called back and disappeared into the room.
Purpled then nudged me with his elbow to get my attention. I looked at him.
"You still owe me all that food, you know," he smirked. I gave a light and tired smile, not having the energy to retort to his cockiness.
"Indeed I do. You'll have to order, though. I don't usually eat anything besides from home food."
"Oh trust me, I know the perfect things to order."

I watched as Purpled stuffed his third cheeseburger into his mouth.
He almost choked with how fast he was devouring it, but I saved him by handing over a glass of water. He drank it gratefully, relishing his clogged up throat.
After swallowing his last big bite, his hand eagerly reached towards a pizza slice, to which I slapped his hand away with a deadpan face.
Why'd you do that? he asked with his eyes. I stared at him, unimpressed.
"Eat one more bite of junkfood, and you'll have stomach aches in the morning. Also, during the bathroom," I added in for good measure. He shrugged, not a single care for his health.
"One more milkshake please!" he called out to the waitress. She flashed a toothy smile before scurrying away. I frowned.
"You're not very considerate of my wallet, are you?"
"Relaaaaaax, I got a discount since I'm a regular!" he smirked, quickly snatching away a pizza slice before I could react.
"First you're a regular to Sam, now you're a regular to this place? You just keep on surprising me more and more."
I watched in disappointment as he practically drank the slice, licking his lips. "If you have stomach pains the next day, I'm not going to help treat you," I remarked, folding my arms.
He stuck his tongue out at me with his eyes closed, and I took the opportunity to grab a bottle of hot sauce and quickly squeeze some onto his tongue.
He gagged and recoiled, gurgling down the milkshake next to him in attempt to rid of the hot, fire taste.
"Ew! Damnit, do you know how spicy that tastes?!"
"No, I thought it tasted like chocolate and rainbows," I sarcastically replied, simultaneously rolling my eyes.
I looked out the window, chin against my hand with my elbow resting on the table. For some reason, I feel a lot more calm than I should've. Being with Purpled and his goofy personality put me at ease- but I knew that it wasn't going to last long, especially since that talk he and Niki had.
It had become so normal to see Wilbur's cold face at me that I had expected a punishment or consequence of some sort.
"I don't know how much longer I can keep this up. I think at any second, things could just fall apart completely for me. Purpled," I spoke up, calling his name. He glanced up with his mouth full and crumbs on his chin.
He was about speak, but my ear piece clicked on and in came Niki's voice.
"They're awake, (Y/n)," she spoke softly. I widened my eyes slightly in shock, instantly standing up. Purpled jolted a little at my sudden action.
"And Wilbur wants to talk to you."
I felt my heart drop when she said that. I was going to ask more, but she quickly hung up and left me in silence. Purpled look at me, confusion visible on his face. He hadn't heard the words Niki spoke.
"I need to go now," I told him, waving for the waitress to bring the bill. I paid quickly. Purpled frowned but didn't question it. I don't think he wanted to know anyways.
"I really thank you for everything, Purpled," I spoke, getting up. He didn't even get a chance to say anything since I bolted out of the room, desperate to see my friends again.
