Chapter 15 Camille

Start from the beginning

"It could be, we don't know miss." One says.

"Come on now, you don't want to be late." Says the other.

I walk out of the safety of the cell into the hallway suddenly feeling very vulnerable. We walk up two flights of stairs passing the servant's quarters and the kitchens, making it to the main floor where the grand hall, crypt, and courtrooms are.  They take me into a courtroom. It's big with a circular table in the middle with everyone in a chair except for the one I'm supposed to be in.

The guards bring me over to the chair and I take a seat. The king clears his throat and everyone turns to look at him not a single one avoiding his eye contact. I scan the room for anyone I might notice, my eyes land on my boss, he takes a quick look at me and a shiver runs up my spine.

Memories of what others used to say about Mason flood my mind

Memories of what others used to say about Mason flood my mind. Many people who left the guild said he was creepy and always picked on them when they made the slightest mistake, he went far beyond breaking fingers, he broke character by bringing up everything most of them had been running from sometimes they never returned because he took things to far and killed them or made them kill themselves.

There had been one time he tried to break me right after I had just finished putting myself back together. It was a few months after I joined the guild after losing everything I had just turned 6. I messed up a mission because I hadn't paid attention and let my team down. When I got back he took me into his office and started yelling at me I had tears running down my face, and when he saw me crying he grabbed my hair and took me to a secret room only he knew about.

The room stunk like rotting corpses and the strong metallic smell of blood. He slammed me against a metal table and lit a fire. I looked around the room and saw torture tools. I started screaming hoping anyone could hear me, but this only made things worse for me, I was so far away from the guild no one knew I was gone. I was terrified when he came near me with a red hot knife. I started panicking, I hopped off the table and was slammed to the ground by his brute force. I blacked out and when I woke up I was strapped to the table and all I could smell was the awful smell of flesh. I felt myself starting to cry again I tried kicking and screaming when I saw his shadow appear.

"It's no fun when they are asleep, I don't get to hear them beg." He smiled wickedly making my stomach churn. He pulled up my sleeve and brought out an even hotter knife than before. He brought it to my skin. Hearing the hiss it made and then the blood that came soon after made me pass out again.

When I woke up again he was gone I was still tied up meaning he was going to come back. My age didn't matter to him so long as my wrongdoing got fixed, the blood we lost got paid back in mine. I almost died but by the 5th day, he decided he still needed me because my parents made a name for me before they died. I should have left right after but I couldn't if I wanted to live maybe now death would have been much nicer than everything I went through with that guild just to make myself known and strong.

Everyone is looking at me I guess I didn't realize how long I had been stuck in that memory

Everyone is looking at me I guess I didn't realize how long I had been stuck in that memory. The king clears his throat again.

"Like I asked before, are we all ready to begin?" He asks. Bring it I have nothing to lose Victoria is gone and I'm alone once again.

 "Yes," I say.
