"keiji, can you read me a bedtime story?"
she looked up at him with a small frown which made him raise an eyebrow. he tilted his head and flicked her forehead gently.

"we're no longer kids y/n."
akaashi spoke as he layed back against the bed frame. she giggled and shook her head with a soft smile.

"I was forced to grow up quickly, I want to be a kid again so I can live a normal childhood like the other kids."
her words made his eyes widen, it shattered his heart imagining the tough situations that she went through. he sure went through the same thing, but at least his mother was with him, his father was nothing compared to her and he probably neglected his own daughter there. akaashi reached to rub her head slowly but as he was about to say something, he found her sleeping peacefully.

"sweet dreams."
he kissed her forehead before slowly getting off the bed and laying back on the air mattress. akaashi's room was big enough to fit two beds, her mother told y/n that they can rent another place now that she was here, but she assured her that she can share a room with him, they just had to buy another bed.

the smell of the freshly made pancakes made her flutter her eyes open, her stomach growled loudly, wanting the same thing as well. y/n quickly pulled the covers off of her and rushed downstairs; the source of the wonderful, mouthwatering smell. and there she saw her brother flipping the soft pancakes with one hand while the other was on his hip. giggling at the sight of akaashi in an adorable apron, she walked towards the kitchen counter and sat on the chair.

"cute apron, keiji."
she smirked as she rested her cheek on her palm. akaashi turned once he heard her voice before rolling his eyes at her. he placed the pancakes on a plate and decorated them with chocolate syrup along with whipped cream and strawberries before giving it to his sister.

"here you go, miss snores."
she didn't get to admire the delicious sight in front of her when akaashi teasingly called her that. she glared at him as she stuffed a strawberry inside her mouth.

"i didn't snore!"
akaashi gave her that "yeah right" expression before shrugging and filling his plate as well.

pouting, she turned and started eating hers as well. once she tasted the sweet, soft texture of the warm pancakes, her eyes sparkled and her lips curled up into a big smile. akaashi smiled proudly as he eyed his sister from behind the counter, and he couldn't blame her once he took a bite, they were absolutely tasty. as akaashi was going for his second bite, he noticed how y/n finished her plate in a matter of seconds. chuckling, he pulled the fork towards his lips and took another bite.

"thank you keiji, you know.. back in america, i had to rely on myself and cook my own food.. wait, is there any left?"
she quickly got up from the chair and walked towards the counter, looking for more pancakes.

akaashi stopped munching his food once he heard what his sister said. he put the fork down on his plate and looked up at her with a confused look.

"he left you alone? all day?"

"well.. yeah? i was 7..or 8 when he took me with him, at first, he did everything to make me forget about you and mom, he showered me with gifts, toys.. he paid many nannies to watch over me and play with me, but i refused and kept begging him to take me back. that was in the first few years, after that, he completely forgot about me.."

she softly spoke as she poured chocolate syrup on her pancakes. after finishing, she closed the syrup bottle and put it back on the counter before walking back to her chair with the plate in her hands.

"he even refused to enroll me in a school there, i was homeschooled. i hated watching kids my age going to school, playing together from my window... it was hard. and since dad was usually absent, i had to rely on myself. i had to cook my own meals, do my own laundry, clean the house, i literally became cinderella- pfft, those were the loneliest years of my life-"
y/n suddenly stopped talking once she felt akaashi's arms slowly wrapping around her shoulders.

"I'm so sorry, if only I tried harder.. but I was just a kid back then, and he completely cut ties with us. i didn't know what to do.."
akaashi mumbled as he gently drew circles with his thumb on her shoulder. she smiled softly and shook her head.

"you're such an idiot keiji, it's not your fault. what really matters now that I'm here now. I'm prettier than i used to be, right?"

akaashi pulled back and looked at his sister for a moment before shrugging his shoulders.

"well, you used to be fatter."

"rude."
y/n rolled her eyes and turned to keep eating her food. akaashi chuckled and went back to his chair to finish eating as well.

"bokuto-san hasn't texted me yet, that's strange."
akaashi eyed his phone before taking a bite. y/n rested her cheek on her palm as she kept munching her food. before anyone could say something, akaashi's phone vibrated with bokuto's name flashing on the screen.

"speak of the devil."
akaashi mumbled as he pressed the answer button and pulled the phone closer to his ear.

"AGAAAAAAASHEE"

"bokuto-san, you don't have to yell."
akaashi rubbed his ear as he put his phone on speaker mode before putting on the table.

"CAN WE HANG OUT? HOW'S Y/N-CHAN???? DID YOU TELL HER ABOUT MY PARTY? PLEASE TELL ME SHE'S COMING!!"

y/n's ears perked up once she heard her name. she looked up at akaashi and tilted her head to the side with a confused look.

"what party?"
she asked her brother as she wiped her hands and put the fork on the empty plate.

"he's throwing a christmas party in his house, he invited everyone, an-"

"YES, Y/N-CHAN I'M BEGGING YOU COME PRETTY PWEASE!"

"it's up to you."
when it comes to his sister, akaashi would get super protective. however, the party seemed to be the perfect opportunity for her to meet new people and make friends.

"nah, he has to convince me."
y/n smirked as she put the dirty plate in the sink, bokuto's loud dramatic gasp could be heard from the phone as he kept begging her to come to his party.

"fine you crybaby, I'll come. just because I'm so bored and i have nothing to do. keiji, you're going right?"
y/n asked her brother and he nodded in response. he promised bokuto after all, and now that his sister was going too, he was definitely going.

"YEYYYY! trust me y/n-chan, you'd be so shocked once you see me because I'm the most attractive guy in school! everyone will be looking at me!"

y/n's sly smirk grew wider as she crossed her arms and layed her back on the wall, a soft giggle escaped her mouth as she slowly shook her head.

"oh trust me, they'll be looking at me."
