1 | while the city sleeps
There was a blur of movement, air strong enough to capture strands of her hair in its current. The top of the car was down exposing the city with an unobscured view of the passing sky scrapers and traffic lights. Music blared through the speakers of the car working as a background noise to someone's video. It was the epitome of a Saturday night.
"Wait, retake that I looked ugly."
"Aerin! Are you even listening to me?" The voice came from the front of the car as they looked through the rear view mirror to the backseat. She pushed a lock of hair behind her ear as she moved the phone for a better angle, "Yes, I'm listening, it's something about being alone."
"No," Hoseok groaned with a roll of his eyes, "I said don't go off on your own. I know that this all fun and games for you but some people take this really seriously, and it can be dangerous."
"I am listening, Hobi, and you already told me this," she said as she set her phone back down. The car's top began to rise back over the group of four as Hoseok slowed down to drive through a backstreet.
"And yet every time you don't listen," Hoseok said with a small chuckle as the one in the passenger's seat told him where to turn.
There were people everywhere, cars of all designs blocking street entries and parking lots. A light buzz of nightlife filled the air and the closer they got to the main event, the louder the energy became. Music blared from open cars, engines rumbling in the background, tire screeching against the pavement.
Jimin walked behind Aerin and Lia as they made it through to where everyone else would be. There had to be a good couple hundred people here filling the parking lots of some abandoned warehouses on the outskirts of downtown Seoul. There was a clear stretch of road that was blocked off from oncoming traffic for tonight and it was a couple miles long. Hoseok was the first to excuse himself, like usual when he left to go greet his other friends. He always came down to this side of town so he knew more about this than the others but he never stuck around the whole time.
Like usual, Aerin stuck to her two other friends who all kept a low profile. This had to be the only place where their group wasn't at the center of attention. It wasn't in some pretentious 'we need a break from the spotlight' sort of way, but more of a 'let's have fun freely' way. Aerin likes that there's too many people here to keep track of who's who. She liked that none of them knew their names or paid any attention to them. All that was focused on were cars, gambles, and street races.
"I don't get why all of you like coming here, it's a waste of time," Jimin muttered as he looked around. He didn't know any of the people here or the kind of car they drove. He didn't care and he didn't want to be here but his other friends were here so he came. He doesn't like coming when it's just him and Hobi though. Hoseok always has to go off and do some work here and then Jimin gets stuck scared for his life with all the people around.
